It's Taylor Ham. We use the company name to refer to the product. Come to a Jerzey diner and get yourself a Taylor Ham, egg and cheese on a hard roll. ThereMs nothing better after you've closed a bar down.

In south jersey maybe, it's pork roll where im from. Central Jersey, Monmouth County.

Also it's way better when you cook it at home compared to a deli. They never cook it enough. it needs to be crispy like bacon. Thats when it's reeeeaaaaalllllllly good.

Yea you definitely have to order it well done in a deli or bagel shop.

Also it needs to be thin, not that thick garbage.

I like both although I do like the thick a little better. That being said I use the two terms interchangeably thanks to my time at Rutgers. I probably trend towards Taylor Ham however thanks to living primarily in North Jersey for 23+ years of my 27+.

Like it thin, not super crispy, but cooked enough so it curls up, and I call it Pork Roll

This actually doesn't shock me with all the contact that Rutgers and the patriots have had for almost a decade.

Sorry, only in NJ and very eastern PA.

Look at how close NYC is to NJ and you can get anything you want in that city...except pork roll. In fact, most folks there have never even heard of it. Go across the Hudson river though it is a staple and in fact ordered on more breakfast sandwich's than bacon. For real.

It's a local NJ thing, like scrapple getting scrapple in the Philly to Balto area. Made by Taylor Provisions in Trenton. The best description I can give is that it is salted pork that looks like a giant summer sausage. It comes in mild and tangy.
I grew up in Essex and live in Union and it's Taylor Ham up here. The manufacture says it is more commonly referred to as pork roll in South Jersey. So sorry NJRedman, you've been demoted to (609) status. The company says we are really both wrong on the name, see the following web site.

How about this; Sabrett, Nathans or Best Beef franks?

It’s definitely a Jersey thing, for me it’s Taylor Ham. Sunday morning, the sports page, a well done crispy Taylor Ham, egg and cheese sandwich on a fresh bagel and all is good with the world!

I’ve done plenty of time in Northern NJ, NYC, and Philly, just say no to scrapple, take my advice, just say no!

Scrapple is definitely a PA/South Jersey thing. Go to a grocery store in North Jersey and you won't find it. Go to a grocery store in South Jersey or in PA and you'll find it. Also its gross.

That being said all you guys talking about this I ended up making a nice Taylor Ham, Egg and Cheddar sandwich on a poppy seed bagel.

South Jersey calls it Taylor's Ham too. It's not really confined to a region. I think it's a town by town thing. But calling it Taylor's ham is like calling all soda Coke like some weird southerners.

Here in southern missouri all pop/soda are "cokes"....it's odd.

Yep...in Central Jersey...it was "What kind of Soda do you guys have?"

When I moved to the deep south it was: "What kind of Cokes do ya'll have?"

PS. Have some friends that hate Pepsi (Diet Pepsi) so bad in the deep South...its funny to see them try to order at the few places that for some DUMB reason why Pepsi contracts.

Oh, those new individualized Coke Machines in sub shops and convenient stores ROCKS!

Yes, they do. They have one at the Burger King by me, and also at a Moe's in town. Only problem is when multiple people want to get a soda at the same time. Love the flavor combinations tho. Had an Orange Vanilla Hi-C one day. Was Awesome.

We also have a verbal agreement to schedule a series against Vanderbilt.

I don't know why everyone keeps insisting that it's difficult to get a home-and-home with other Big 6 conference schools. Memphis has several on the upcoming schedule.
