Troy Steals Bama's Montgomery Market Radio Station
Troy has bounced around the FM dial for a while now in the Montgomery-Metro area, from Alice 96.1 to NewsTalk 107.9, and now....to 95.1 The Fox.

The latest move is a shocker though, because The Fox has been the Montgomery home for the Alabama Crimson Tide for as long as I can remember. I don't know why or how we pulled this off, but I think it's pretty cool to snatch their long-tenured FM home in the River Region.

Go Troy! COGS

Doesn't really surprise me. Montgomery is pro-Auburn.

Shoot man, Montgomery has plenty of Bammers. The rise of the faithful Troy fanbase in the area has been very exciting to watch.

While I prefer to listen to 104.9 The Gump (modern/90's rock) over 95.1 The Fox (classic rock), the latter is one of the oldest and most established stations in the area. Securing it for OUR fanbase is a big deal.

What station in Mobile broadcasts the South football games?

I like the fact that we have radio coverage in Birmingham. But do you EVER hear about UAB down this way in South Alabama? NOPE. Much less in their own market.

Yeah that's because they don't have any coverage south of Birmingham. Stations don't broadcast a team's games if there aren't fans to listen.

Did Troy actually "steal" this station from 'Bama ? Did the station boot 'Bama in favor of Troy or is the station changing for another reason ?

As much as I would like to think that a radio station decided to dump Bama for Troy (I support Auburn as far as the Iron Bowl rivalry goes), I would think that Alabama would be a much more valuable product (even in M'gomery - which IS an Auburn town) than Troy. My guess is that the decision was made due to Alabama's pricing of its' radio rights versus Troy's.

Still, its good to know that Troy has a good radio affiliate in MGM.
