RE: QB Commit
The whole situation around this kid is confusing as heck. Need more clarity on him before I buy in.

No means he is enrolling in january 2014. Canoy from our last class was/is a greyshirt and he is enrolling this semester. Definitely not a grades issue thing usually don't want to take that position this class or are filled at a certain position and get a jump on the next class.

Then where will Kimble be in the fall of 2013? He's got outstanding grades that made me think he may have graduated last month and is ready to enroll at NIU this January.

RE: QB Commit
As I understand greyshirts, they can't be on campus or work out with the team. Don't know if they are prohibited from being onthe sidelines during games. Most will probably work out at home, and make some money. They are going to be scholarship athletes, they just start their college career one semester later than most of their fellow classmates. If they redshirt their first year it is actually 3 football seasons before they play again.

Greyshirts can't work out with the team, but they are on campus. If they weren't college students, they're wouldn't be such a classification.

They are not on campus, unless they are paying their own way.

RE: QB Commit
Let me clarify. Greyshirts are not on campus the fall semester following their graduation. They are limited in how many hours they can take at the school they will attend in the spring. I have seen as few as 3 hours, but it may be as many as they can but still be a part time student. If they were a full time student in the fall their eligibility clock would start and would be just like a regular redshirt. They do not count as scholarship athletes until the spring following their HS graduation.

Kids who graduate early from HS can count as current class or prior class scholarships. They are not called greyshirts they are early enrollees (EE)

If the students is taking classes at NIU they would be able to take a MAXIMUM of 6 credit hours = 2 normal classes per semester, which comes out to 1/2 the credit hours of being a full time student...along with no contact with the team other than what the general public/student population has access.

Why did they lose their second playoff game?

Lots of questions at this point.

Jersey lost 2nd round game to Glenwood. They were very good team. Glenwood lost by a few points to Sacred Heart Griffin and Rochester. They were no slouch.

From yesterday's Telegraph (Alton, IL), here's a recruiting Update on Mitch Kimble:

"The Division I football dream will be reality for Kimble. He committed to Northern Illinois in the summer. But with Huskies coach Dave Doeren leaving DeKalb to take the head coach job at North Carolina State, Kimble appears back in play with additional college visits likely. Syracuse has offered a scholarship and Oregon State and North Carolina State have joined the courtship of a player Jacobs calls "the best high school talent I have seen or coached in 26 years."

I'd be willing to bet one of my petey balls that he ends up at NC State. If he's got offers from the bigger boys, he ain't a comin' to DeKalb.

Sadly it looks like we look like we have lost this one!
Maybe they will add a star or two to his rating?

Rivals hasn't even assigned him any stars, I think that usually means they haven't been evaluated. But he does look very impressive. He should be a 3 star guy in my opinion. We have a verbal from another Illinois QB, 3 star Chris Streveler, and his throws look pretty ugly. I'd love to have Kimble.

Kimble would be a dream. An unevaluated gem, revealed too soon by DD departure.

RE: QB Commit
Minnesota had their shot with Kimble. He went to camp and talked with Kill et al and they still didn't offer. Not an unusual occurrence just the normal routine of recruiting. Edgy Tim has an article about a "3*" lineman from Naperville that doesn't have any D1 offers. I think the coaches know more than the recruiting services. Great high school players do not necessarily translate to great college players.

I know, I'm just saying I could easily see him being better then the guy Kill did land after watching his highlight tape. But I'm no expert and of course you can only tell so much from a highlight tape.
