Freshman point guard
Who was the best freshman point guard we have had? Fish was no doubt the greatest over his career, but his freshman season was not spectacular. 7.2 ppg, shooting only 29% from the arc. He still may be the best, but can you think of anyone else who was better?

Paul Springer was a good freshman point , helping the team to the NCAA victory. His stats weren't great but he was the right person for that team. Bryan Crislip was tremendous before he left at semester of his freshman year. Malik Dixon played some point as a freshman before they switched and went with Fish there full time.

As you said, Paul was the right guy for that team, but I don't think he started much after his freshman year. Trying to think who beat him out. It'll come to me later. Was it Juric Brown?

I believe Bryan Crislip might have gotten this award had he stayed. He was a perfect example of how big of a moron kids that age can be (along with the worse recent example of Micheal Dyer). Crislip had everything going for him here, but he just kept mooning over his supposed girlfriend back in West Virginia. So he transferred to a lesser school to be closer to her, and she immediately dumped him.

RE: Freshman point guard
Alex Finger, the starting point guard for the great Central Team featuring Joe Johnson and Mark Green, started for UALR as a freshman, and would have probably been a really good player, but he gave up basketball after his freshman season to be a regular student. His and Crislip's leaving were blows to our program at the time.
