RE: Texas State Underwater Archaeologist Finds Captain Morgan Treasure...
Growing up down there it was always stories of pirates and the cimarrones (marroons) and 16th century ruins. This particular story goes that a lookout alerted the city that Morgan had gotten past the fort and was headed their way. When he arrives his men start looting and burning the city. He walks in the church to loot it and the priest had painted the massive golden altar black. As they are taking their loot Morgan keeps looking up at the altar. His men tell him they have too go. Before he leaves he takes one more look at the altar and looks at the priest, smiles and says "I have a feeling that you're a bigger thief than I".

The real stories in the Caribbean are better than any movies.

Honestly, when I read the title of this thread I thought it was going to be a joke about some frat guys bringing up some old Capt Morgan bottles from the bottom of Aquarena Springs

I think Morgan was the best pirate, the most savvy. Black Beard was the most fearless and the most ruthless. A Captain Like Sparrow, though entertaining would have lasted about a week in the Caribbean.
