Thanks for information. Hopefully that will be a help to me in trying to talk my son into considering Troy.

What is going to sell him is the band. All I can get out of him is Auburn and to be in there Band. Being hard headed I have not been able to get him to see that not everyone gets in at Auburn as a freshman and that there are other school inside the state that have good band programs such as Troy, UAB. JackSt,USA, and Samford. Now he has been to UAB and JackSt for honor bands so he know about there band program.
My nephew plays for UNT so this past fall we were at there game in Troy, the entire family except for my son who did not want to go to the game. All I got out of him when I sayed I here Troy has a very good band was that I have seen them. For some reason I get the impression that he does not like Troy's Band and he will not tell me his reason. Then again the reason could be that it is not Auburn. What is a father to do.

Auburn's band isn't anything special. Troy and Jax State have some of the best bands in the country. Here's my list of Alabama bands:

1. Troy/JaxSt
2. UNA
3. Bama
4. USA
5. UAB
6. Auburn

RE: Old Long Hall at Troy Destroyed
I will say this, Auburn's band has become considerably better that in the past for years. With that said, I am not taking anything away from TROY's program seeing that I am a product of it. I love the program and I love, "THE SOUND OF THE SOUTH!" Alabama is very blessed to have some fine music program but if he is looking at just "BANDS" then Auburn is not a bad choice, but if he is looking at music programs, then ALABAMA has the top music program in the state and one of the top 5 in the southeast.

Where he goes he plans on being in that school's marching band. At this time he is not looking to major in music. Three to four years ago becoming a band director crossed his mind and I told he that Troy or JaxSt were two good schools to look at.
