Audit the Fed in the US Senate
... it will be interesting to see how this will reveal splits in the Democratic Party. I expect the philosophic driven Democrats like Bernie Sanders to vote to audit the Fed.

But Democrat whip Steny Hoyer is already desperately trying to drum up enough no votes: http://www.democraticwhip.gov/content/da...ly-24-2012

I'd like to hear where the Dems on the board fall.

If you're a Democrat voting AGAINST Audit the Fed ... you're basically blatantly against government transparency and accountability ... and you're there only to wield and attain as much power as you can, and reap the benefits that power has to offer. Your governing ideals are irrelevant in this vote. This is purely about Congress fulfilling its Constitutional obligations. The Fed doesn't lose any power. There is still a 6-month time lag between a Fed decision and an audit, so the Fed still has a great deal of temporary secrecy. This is basic. If you can't support this bill ... you're unworthy of holding office. Regardless of your political affiliations.

What about Republicans? They cash in all the time from lack of Fed oversight.

It is constitutionally the job of Congress to print and coin money. Any of these clowns that don't vote to audit the Fed should step down immediately for failure to do their damn jobs. I don't care which side of the aisle they are are on.

I am open-minded on the issue. But, on a related scenario, I really hope Chairman Bernanke does not hyper-inflate the dollar. People need to be able to afford groceries and support domestic businesses.

The bill comes up tomorrow around 1PM for vote in the US House. I suspect it will pass ... the question is with how many Dem votes for it since Steny Hoyer is shilling for Bernanke. The bill has 257 co-sponsors ... so I suspect it will get close to 300 votes.

This is one of those GTS, where it doesn't matter Dem or Republicans... they all have screwed us over when they vote against auditing the Federal Reserve.

I do think it'll pass the House tomorrow, and honesty, I don't think it'll be even close... somethng like 350+ in favor.

But anyone who votes against it, Rep, Dem, or I.. will have some serious 'splainin' to do!!!

Now that being said, I honestly don't think it'll get past the Senate... outside of two or three senators, I don't think there's a more corrupt bunch in the govt that gets away with whatever they want than the US senate.

No replies from the liberals here yet?

Also, the House vote should be coming up shortly ... the House is running through closure votes now.

Interesting watching C-SPAN how the House self-segregates. The entire Republican Liberty Caucus has congregated in the lower left-center area.

Here comes Audit the Fed to the floor ... but Issa brought it up under suspension, requiring 2/3 to pass. WTF?

RE: Audit the Fed in the US Senate
Time to see where the Dems are in the House. How many Dems in teh House believe in transparency ... and how many are soulless automatons that value party and secrecy more?

Right now it is about a 2:3 split for/against passage among the Dems ... still early.

Republican: 238 yes, 1 no, 2 nv
Democrat: 87 yes, 98 no, 6 nv

Steny Hoyer fails miserably to whip up enough no votes to even defeat a 2/3 suspension vote. Nearly half of the Dems in the House ignore the whip and say they have a soul and support transparency. But nearly 100 Dems are soulless party automatons interested in power and secrecy.

That was planned all along so that it couldn't be watered down along the way.

RE: Audit the Fed in the US Senate
I went to OpenCongress to get the specifics on who voted against it .... and I found their list of organizations supporting Audit The Fed ... boy this is a coalition you won't see often:

Audit The Fed
Campaign for Liberty
Open the Government
Americans for Tax Reform
National Taxpayers Union
Citizen Outreach
Democrats.com
The Rutherford Institute
Public Citizen
Green Party of the United States
A New Way Forward
Citizens Against Government Waste
The John Birch Society
Liberty Coalition
U.S. Public Interest Research Groups
Americans for Prosperity Arizona
Americans for Prosperity Michigan
California Republican Party
North Dakota Republican Party
FreedomWorks
Project On Government Oversight

Various transparency organizations. Various libertarian organizations. Various tea party organizations. Republican Party elements. Democrat Party elements. The Green Party. The tinfoil hat brigade JBS. Strange bedfellows indeed.

Roll Call 513: The sole GOP no vote was Turner (NY). Most of the Dem no votes I recognize are in leadership positions.

RE: Audit the Fed in the US Senate
Does not surprise me that Reyes from Texas voted no. He had Bill Clinton in town to stump for him during the primary and he still lost to a young guy whose claim to fame is that he co-wrote a book on why legalizing pot would solve the drug war. I am glad Reyes is out come January.
