I thought about him, but he will never leave Penn State. That was the school his dad played at and noow Mauti is in his last year I believe. Not leaving with the history there.

I know, but one can always hope. His brother also played there, but his sister is/was a Cajun volleyball player.

They've already been there, done that. Wouldn't be surprised if Joe Poo helped grease them up first.

RE: Penn State sanctions
The fine is too low. It should have been $100 million. The bowl ban is too short. It should have been 11 years. The scholarship reduction is too low. It should have been 15 per season for 10 years. Vacating wins is still a hollow penalty. People who saw the games know what really happened and all the DVDs that will continue to exist prove what actually happened.

I would have been fine with giving all of last season's wins to Tom Bradley, rather than Joe Paterno, to knock him below Eddie Robinson. Doing this just to put Bobby Bowden atop the list is weak because he is no saint, although his scandals were less heinous, as the end of his tenure was tainted with rampant academic fraud. I prefer long meaningful punishments.

Howard Bryant is on OTL on ESPN right now laying out 100% truth right now.... Its all about $$$$ and the power.... Penn St is a microcosm of our society.... Joe Pa had a choice and made the wrong one. i know i would have made the right choice because i have a heart. i hope a vast majority of others would have made the right choice too.... but its apparent how powerful football truely is that it can brainwash so many people at Penn St.... Suprised more people arent speaking out

My take on "punishing the innocent" http://www.arkst.com/?p=1823
In my view, Penn State did benefit on the field from being Sandusky's wingmen.

Dude, learn to understand sarcasm. Also are you not Kolton Brownings brother or something?

You should worry about the warhawks winning 7 games, and not who transfers into Louisiana.

RE: Penn State sanctions
Guys....let's be honest here, some of you are absolutely nuts. Look I am all about Penn State being punished for this as it obviously displayed a complete lack of institutional control.

But I have heard some of the following -

1. Disband the entire athletics department
2. "I HATE PENN STATE"
3. "F*** PENN STATE"
4. Punishment too low
5. Close the football program for all time (lol really??)
6. 11 year bowl ban

and so on and so forth.

You guys are jackwagons. Listen - did Penn State deserve to punished, yes, and I actually believe the current sanctions were right on. But re-read the above 6 statements I heard on this thread and tell me how any of that could even have been remotely serious talk - hopefully you all were joking. By using that logic, we should close all movie theaters and hey, F*** the state of Colorado because a monster who killed 12 people lived there. How about Cho at Virginia Tech? Should we have closed the school because of it? Should we hate Asians or VaTech because of it?

This thread is garbage. It amazes me that the type of power and corruption seen at Penn State occurs daily in this country, really is a micro snapshot of our current society, and no one seems to care much about it until it makes a good story on ESPN. This is America and if you think Penn State is bad, you should open your eyes to what happens in our government every day. Makes Sandusky and this PSU scandal look like child's play. Nothing to see here, move along kids.

Not sure where that came from.

Penn St could have put a stop to Sandusky, but chose not to. Those other events that you mentioned....there was no indication something was about to happen, so it couldn't have been stopped.

You're an idiot with the logic of a eight year old. That is possibly one of the dumbest things I've ever read on this board. How about this; **** you.

I said it because all those little boys who were ass raped can't say it. They don't much care for your crap either.

The world is full of people who refuse to think.

Something happens and they want an extreme knee-jerk response.

Someone from the middle east commits a terrorist act? Nuke the whole place turn it into glass.
Someone commits a sensational gun crime? Ban all guns.

Of course some people just responded to the Penn St situation with a quick no think solution, those people are everywhere.

There is nothing "quick and no-think" about how I feel.

Ultimately, the consequences had to be massive. The college football environment has become a disgusting and vile place. Penn State had to be hammered in order to set a clear example of what will happen if you put football over what is right.

Penn State, or more specifically the people who created that environment, allowed the rape of children. ALLOWED it.

If there is any defense of that I have to assume it is based off personal biased toward an unhealthy list of priorities. Number one being anything above the protection of te innocent.

I see strong aggressive responses to matters such as this as a good sign. It means some of us actually still give a damn.
