our recent rescue (puppy mill doggie) was SO scared when we got him in december.
He'd never really been inside until his foster mom got him from the mill.
Then we got him 6 wks later and suddenly he'd moved around a LOT in his two short years.
he was scared to come inside...we think maybe the mill people beat dogs that tried to scoot indoors or somthing. pure speculation, but researching this I found multiple instances of such behavior.

fast forward to now. this little rescue is a comPLETELY different animal.
TLC is all it was. he comes running top speed when you call him.
he and his "sister" lay all over each other. groom each other.
he sleeps on his back in an "I'm HOME" kinda pose.
totally heart warming and reaffirming that we've done the right thing.
cool dog.
that said his adoptive sister, a dog from a breeder of champion show dogs, it a few fries short of a happy meal. little too dumb to not be just a happy goofball all the time.
"bless her heart"

This just warms my heart, complete and total trust. Most mill dogs don't ever completely trust....yours is one lucky boy.

Most vet's offices will let you post pictures of dogs for adoption.

I think she's done the Facebook thing with him but knows that I help network pups and kitties and emailed me directly for help.

You are an even better man than I thought. 04-rock

The darling kitten that took up residence on my daughter's porch in a very cold Jan. a couple years ago was also put on Facebook. No takers. Frisky now lives with twin babies, two sweet Pitts and a sweet Rott. There just aren't enough homes for all of them. I hate it. Spay/neuter is so important.

You have no idea how hard he tried to bring BJ home. I will be forever greatfull and Bill made a friend for life.

My in laws raise/show dogs and these pure breed dogs, a lot of them are dumb as dirt. Give me a rescue or a mix anytime. I have had 2

RE: Home for a homeless little dog?
ive known several folks in greyhound rescue
the retired racers are some of THE most thankful to be adopted dogs on the planet.

one girl i know loved her greyhound rescues so much she got a purebred greyhound puppy.
and wont ever again.
They appreciate retirement when they've had racing to retire FROM
her pup was horrible. needy. attitude-laden. bad.

Our shepherd is smart enough to get a scholarship, at least to Miss St. But yeah, most pure breds aren't so bright. Our rescues are terrific.

Both adults. The first had a deformed elbow on the front leg but could still run like the wind. I' not sure how she avoided being put down.. The 2nd one ran in 2 finishing races. Last/Did not finish. LOL. However, she has caught a live rusty/Peter in the back yard, birds, a squirrel or two. She runs for the sheer joy of it.

Back in the early 90's (lived in Memphis then) my wife and I had a business on the side and one of our customers was involved in the greyhound adoption efforts. She would always bring two or more with her and they were the sweetest dogs. Always affectionate to the point of seeking me out to get some loving. I cam very close to getting one myself several times.
