"Barneys" - James Madison University, as it applies to the look of their mascot. THrown around most often by University of Richmond fans.
"Ticks" - University of Richmond. A lower form of life compared to a spider.
"Bill and Gary" - William and Mary, assumedly after thri election of a male homecoming queen.
"Violent Criminals University" - Normally spoken by ODU fans towards VCU
"ODUi" - A new one for Old Dominion in light of some recent events.
Thanks for contributing solid discussion on our board. It is much appreciated.
My pleasure, I appreciate everyone's feedback, you all have been tremendous. I am
at the nicknames you posted here. Let's see if I can recall any others we use or have been observed around here occasionally:
UA - "Gumps", "Poindexters", "Bammers" (for the way most of them sound on the air when they call into sports talk radio stations, "I'm a big alabammer fan!", & it's true, some of them actually have the nerve to answer personal phone calls at home or work, instead of saying "hello", they will fix their mouths to say, "roll tide" instead) "Updykes"(for the alabama fan that allegedly poisoned a sacred grove of trees on the Auburn campus), "Drunken Bahrs"(In 'honor' of former coach "bear" bryant, one of the worst enemies this city ever had), "Criminal Turds"(for a number of incidents involving players scuffling with police, selling drugs in the stadium parking lot, attempting to rob a student at gunpoint while wearing a houndstooth hat, etc.) "Teabag Nation" (for what an alabama fan did to a passed out LSU fan at a Krystal restaurant earlier this year and had the gall to videotape it and I think it was placed on YouTube)...
Mississippi State - "Moo-U" (Starkville is pretty much nothing but prime grazing land, plus their football fans all bring cowbells to the games)
Troy - "The Marching Condoms"(in relation to their mascot, the Trojans)
Mississippi - "Ole Piss" (nuff said!)
Being an arachnaphobic, I'm wondering how in the world can a university embrace a spider as its school mascot?
