Anyone in the ACC still want PSU if they leave the B10?
PSU was often floated as a "dream grab" whenever ACC expansion talk started up. Anyone on here still interested in making a move for them if/when they leave/are booted from the B10?

I think we'd give them a shot after they serve their penalty.
Kind of like Michael Vick...all is forgiven after your sentence is served.

+1. I would NOT want them right now, but let's say they do get the NCAA death penalty and have to drop football for a year or more... the B1G doesn't want to lose their championship game, so they give PSU the boot and invite someone else (I'm sure Texas is 1st choice). Then after the death penalty is over, PSU has to reboot their football program - at that point I'd say take 'em in!

It would be hard to say which school the B1G would ask to replace PSU in the unlikely event that they get the boot. I would guess they would go after ND first and then maybe Texas 2nd. I highly doubt Texas goes to the B1G because Texas wants to be the top dog in control.
If PSU does get kicked out and the NCAA sanctions are serious, then I think the ACC should not invite PSU right away. I echo other sentiments where maybe in the future if they check out.

Oversee their reforms, give them strict guidelines but take them it. Penn State football will rebound. Academics are excellent. But the Big 10 will not be kicking them out.

Because everything here is so speculative it's hard to give an answer. For one, I give it next to no chance that they'll be kicked out of the B1G (>1% chance). Secondly, if they are, then we have to assume that the NCAA has levied serious penalties on them. I suppose we could assume the NCAA has levied the death penalty.
At this point, I'm not sure that Penn State makes it back. They have been a terrific program for a number of reasons in the past, however, with the black eye on the university from the scandal and then losing football for a few years I think the perception of people is going to change. Building up again is not going to be easy. It's true that Penn State should have the better opportunity than SMU did, however, I still think Penn State will take a long time to get back to where they were before.
I don't think the ACC would take a flyer on them. It's just kind of a gut feeling.

RE: Anyone in the ACC still want PSU if they leave the B10?
I think this is an impossible question to answer. We just don't know how harsh the DOJ, DOE, and NCAA will be. Who knows, PSU could receive a slap on the wrist from all 3 and business moves on like nothing happened. I'd say there is a greater chance of PSU leaving the B10 than the B10 kicking them out. And that's a pretty slim chance of actually happening.
The picture of PSU's overall stature will be much clearer in 2014 and 15 than it is today.

RE: Anyone in the ACC still want PSU if they leave the B10?
The only way I see the B1G getting involved is if the Feds (DOE, et. al.) take R&D money away from PSU. Because R&D money is shared in the B1G that would hurt all of the B1G schools. The Feds could also say, "Wisconsin, because you are partners with PSU, we are going to take some (all?) R&D money way." The only way the B1G could guarantee that the research money is not being shared with PSU is to drop them. I have no idea what the chances of that happening are.
Generally speaking, I would give PSU some time to get their house in order but would consider them. I wouldn't seek them out for scheduling but would not avoid them either.

Sticky situation here. Who even knows if Penn St drops fb for a couple of years that the Ncaa would prevent them from having a championship? they would still have 12 members, one would just not field a team for a couple of years. How different were things for the Southwest conference when SMU went on probation. I know they didnt have championship games then but how did it affect the rest of the conference?
