And I'm not forgetting about you either South Alabama, stealing our colors and all that jazz! Really though, think about it now... Who can FAU be rivals with? Of course all in-state schools hate each other, but we're all on different levels. Thankfully we had FIU on our same level (even though we own them in our football series, but who cares about that when you have media markets, right?) and had them in our conference, until now as they're moving "up." Because a Florida school is out of the question, we'll have to look at the SBC, and the closest SBC teams will be USA & GSU. I love the thought of Atlanta vs. South Florida for a college football game, but sadly Georgia Tech and Miami already have that covered.
Y'all might hate your rivals, but never wish that rivalry away, because nothing brings the fans of a university together better than a mutual hate at another school.
According to NCAA football FAU and Troy are rivals....I dont get that. only big thing that happened with us was in 2007 when FAU upset us.

That would be the main reason for the Troy/FAU rivalry. The 2007 loss at Troy still gets under my skin. I know the next few games between Troy and FAU were a bit heated because of that "upset".

Oh sadly I know that feeling of losing to UAB all too well. Many a good ECU team has gone into Legion Field and walked out with a loss. Hell I'm concerned about our game their this year. Nearly every year we will play 1 road game in front of 500 fans and our team will walk out like they think the game is going to be a cake walk and get beat. I believe playing in front of no fans can be a bigger home field advantage than a packed house.

RE: Let the UAB/TROY trash talk begin
Well, I certainly don't believe that all rivalries have to be in the same conference/division. Although I could see how it sounded like that.
But it is fun to try and think up all the rivalries around sports.
What I meant to say is a lot of rivalries can be developed that way, and our next big one will be (or already has...)
To me a true rivalry happens when two teams are on a similar level as well as region. I cannot perceive a situation where Troy is ever at the level of UAB. So I don't see the rivalry...especially after this year. And before people bring up how many years in a row Memphis beat UAB in basketball, I still consider that a rivalry due to the history of the series and the levels of both programs. If Memphis goes to the Big East and the series continues, it will still be a rivalry.
All I'm saying is, I see a future not to far from now...where most UAB fans would be embarrassed to consider Troy a rival
Found this on the UA'sB board....
Those bitc%s are Cra Cra!

That is the way to start a rivalry!
I am internet searching for pictures of dead owls as we speak.
We have a lot of stuffed animal panthers that we would stock up on to burn/hang and other panther related things, all we have to do is paint it from gold to royal blue! In all seriousness, I can't wait to play Georgia State, Texas State, and South Alabama. I just hope that FAU will host those games while I'm still a student so I can get in for free!
That being said, best of luck to Georgia State and Texas State in their last year in their respective conference! We'll be rooting for ya and see y'all in the SBC!

You will always rank 2nd behind Western Kentucky and if Memphis were staying on our schedule an argument could probably be made for you being 3rd.
And Candy would trump all of the above, if they didn't run from the schedule after we whipped that arse 3 times in a row.

Honestly the MTSU/Troy rivalry has gotten stale. Last year's game was fun to watch, but we need MTSU to win one to reignite the series. UAB is our new arch-nemisis.

I don't think it's our players fault. We've never been heads and tails as good as the final score usually indicated. I think it has been more less a mental stigma when it comes to you guys playing us. You guys have to play with more confidence and up to your talent level when you play us like this past year. You might have won if a few more things went you guys way.

A few more things? I could be wrong as I've tried my damndest to erase the last six games against you guys from my memory entirely, but didn't last year's game end with us nearing field goal range on an interception off a deflection? Just a little better luck with where that deflection came down and maybe we win that game...

We lost @Purdue, @Troy and at home against WKU by a combined nine points. All three decided on the final drive. Purdue with a game winning FG, Troy with a drive ending INT, and WKU in double OT with Rainey bailing out his team on 3rd and 10 from the 25.

Ya we lost to FIU in double OT. And by 5 points to UNT. and Lost by 10 points to Arkansas....I just dont understand how we played so close to Arkansas and Clemson (leading at halftime) and those two schools were in the top 10 last year and we Fall apart during the rest of season.
