We all know the greed of CFB won't stop at 4. 8 is just a stop to 16. 2-3 years max on the 4 team, then it will expand!

This is why getting worked about bowl games isn't worth it. If the system does expand do you think anybody is going to care about the Orange Bowl, Champions Bowl, or the Rose Bowl if the top 8 are the playoff.
Maybe the key for the Big East is to fight for money over bowl access. Getting solid second tier bowl games with more money isn't the worst thing if there conferences like the Mountian West the will probably be fighting for a larger playoff.

RE: Commish predicts 8-team playoff
Sounds like wishful thinking to me.
I can't think of a scenario where the Big4 would want to make this bigger than 4 teams.
If this was the SEC, Big10, PAC, or Big12 commish talking I might believe it. This is wishful thinking to try an placate his conference members.

There is no doubt whatsoever this will grow to at least 8 teams. The only question is when.

I suspect there will be a lawsuit and public outcry as soon as an undefeated non-AQ gets left out (which is going to happen because the selection committee will be a sham and the power conferences cant help themselves from over reaching). After an incident like that, I could see the power conferences being forced to move to 8 teams. The truth is, it wont take that long and the power conferences wont be forced to do it.
I think the power conferences will actually be the ones who suggest going to 8 teams. It will happen as soon as the Big-12 or Big-10 or Pac-12 gets left out of the playoff a few years in a row.

He is guilty of wishful thinking. The Non Aq's pushed for and end to BCS, they have it, and have completely been pushed out of the picture. A case of careful what you wish for.
The Power 4 won't be changing this anytime soon. between the 4 they will control 95% of all playoff bids, with ACC getting in once every 6 to 10 years, and BE one per lifetime. Why would they give that up.

My thoughts exactly, well almost, I don't think there will ever be a lawsuit or the MWC would have done it a long time ago, public outcry that leads to Congressional hearings could very well happen though.

8 would just mean Neinas has secured all the runners up their own bowl game.

I have to agree with this. Where there's money, people will find a way. And expanding the playoff to 8 teams will expand the post-season revenue. So I honestly believe that it will happen. When it happens is the question really.
