The Grizzlies will never win with Conley as their point guard. He's not a winner. Bayless will be a definite upgrade.
Ha...the infamous per min stats! It's foolish to assume given Conley's mins, Bayless may fare better. There's a reason he's a journeyman and a bench player.
I agree Conley is not a championship level PG but he's capable enough with the talent surrounding him to enable the team to win a championship. Bayless is
Conley's backup...it's a simple fact.
Nothing you said made any sense. Bayless had similar stats to Conley and played a fraction of the minutes, on a crappy team. His stats would be much better if he had actual good players around him. Second, if Conley was playing on a team with a decent point guard he wouldn't see the floor. Third, the Grizzlies haven't won anything, but they would have won a lot more if they didn't have a liability at point guard.
By the 10th game of the year, most will be demanding that Bayless gets more minutes. The only thing that will save Conley is the coach's hardon for him.
If you were smart, then you would understand what I said. Again this argument is idiotic...you are comparing a journeyman and a perennial bench player that's on his 4th team in 6 yrs to a starting PG. That somehow makes sense to you?!?
As for the Griz, they were a joke of a franchise. They are now respectable and a threat to do well in the PO and Conley has been part of that improvement. And frankly they won't win a title unless everything falls in place. The top teams have too much talent and officiating tends to be biased towards them because of superstars.
Conley is a bench player. He hasn't had anyone anyone good behind him (Gilbert Arenas, Josh Selby, Jamaal Tinsley, Jeremy Pargo, Acie Law, Marcus Williams) since Kyle Lowry, and Lowry is a more productive player right now.
Bayless, despite being a journeyman, is a productive player; more productive than Conley last year. He isn't a worldbeater, but he is better than Conley. It's a shame because aside from a bit of depth; the Grizzlies have everything else in place to contend. Conley himself would be perfect depth if they had a decent point guard.
Not sure is serious.

I'll say it again no Conley = No Playoffs plain and simple.

RE: Jerryd Bayless
Even though there are times when I get super irritated/frustrated with Mike Conley, it's also pretty apparent that he is running the offense & playing the way Hollins has asked him to. Does he still do stupid stuff from time to time? Absolutely! But ultimately, he's doing what's asked of him, he gives good effort, he speaks highly of his team & the city. Basically, it could be much much worse.
And our much improved bench is a sight for sore eyes. Hearing the starters praise them for their effort and credit them for winning games is awesome! If things continue to gel, Arthur can come back strong & contribute, and we avoid the injury bug, this season could be a special one.

Anyone really want to argue that Bayless doesn't make us better when he's in than Mike? LOL

It's amazing that Conley gets ripped for not being able to guard two guys in Westbrook and Chris Paul that most people can't guard.
We didn't lose the Clips series because of Conley. We lost the Clips series because we didn't have anyone behind him that could handle the ball, absolutely putting lie to the notion that Conley simply has no effect on how well this team plays. Watching guys bring the ball up ass first when Conley was out was embarrassing.
Conley will have to pay to get into the Hall of Fame like the rest if us. If he makes an all star game, it will be an outlier statistical fluke of a year. I doubt that will ever happen, though. He's certainly never going to win any defensive awards. But he's a perfectly adequate, not great and not awful, starting PG. Bayless isn't going to take over his job.

RE: Jerryd Bayless
It's a different from not being able to guard them and looking like their little brother when they post you up or go at you. A big difference. Other guards in the league dont look like pipsqueaks when cp3 attempts to post them....js
