They have no one to blame but themselves. Win a ball game from time to time and people will care more about the program. UAB can't get people to drive 10 minutes to see their games because no one likes to spend money to watch a loser.

RE: Updated - FB - Phil Steele's Bowl Projections and More...
The purpose of my earlier post regarding Cajun attendance was to point out we have a momentum that started when Bustle began coaching and rebuilding the program that was a total train wreck. Coach HUD has sent this program into overdrive. Remember Lafayette is a city full of Saints fans that suffered total hell for 35 years but we never gave up. Now the saints rank in the top of stadium capacity per game for the NFL. The same thing is happening with the Cajuns. After all we are a city that sold out over 11,000 tickets per game for several years for a minor league ice hockey team as This city was waiting for The Cajuns to do something and now we appear to be on the right track. I was at the N.O Bowl and the locals that came were by and large Cajun alums and/or Cajun fans. I do not think SDSU sold much over 2,000 tickets so we were pushing close to 40k in fan, alums, students, season ticket holders. Some even bought tickets thru SDSU to get lower level seats as we were all out of several allotments.
So I say forget UAB, the CUSA or any other league.. Put the butts in the seats as a conference, win ooc games, bowl games and we will get the respect, tv deals and bowls. Now, to all SBC teams, prove u can whoop our attendance records and make us all proud. Lord knows I was routing for FIU and ASU in their bowl games and for big attendance.
Ps: can't pull for FIU and NT this year due to pending relocations. Sorry guys

Of the crew that I see at every home game every year, I'm the closest, and I live just under two hours away from Troy. Well, we do have a few home town folks. I'd love to see the break down of where our season ticket holders are from. I think it would surprise people how far our fans drive to see Troy football.
I do think we are too hard on our "locals" though. Think about places like Birmingham with a metro pop over a million...the little dragons have a lot more room to ***** about the locals:)
Our entire population is only half of the maximum rated capacity for our stadium. Of those 15,000 "locals", 7500 are college students. Great support would be 10% of the "locals", or 750 because I shouldn't count Troy students as "locals."
To be fair...the Census does not take into account the College kids on campus in the dorms....the 20k population of Troy is actual residents. But still.
Making that argument doesn't really help as every market in the Sun Belt is already larger and every enrollment in the Sun Belt is larger as well.
