probably recall Homer Berry, the rainmaker the city hired many years ago. It was 109 degrees in the sun this afternoon. Incredible. We have to have a break pretty soon. It's getting crazy. Hottest year I can recall in quite awhile. I do remember one day, probably over 20 years ago, that the official temperature hit 109. The next day it dropped to 102, and it was like a cool spell had hit.

I remember the Berry rainmaker incident. I think that it rained within days of his seeding the clouds. He claimed credit, while some doubted that he was responsible. Most didn't care whether he or God got credit for the rain. The rain was what counted. He got his money and we got the rain.

You didn't hire Berry's grandson did you? We haven't seen a drop of rain in Sherwood in over a month. For the past several days, it's been thundering and dark clouds all around, but not one drop has fallen.
