If you were in their shoes......
While not endorsing a football only membership offer, I do think that all SBC schools, particularly the western ones, should schedule Idaho and NMSU as much as possible in their time of need.

Like smarter people than me have said, "If not for the Grace of God, go I".

I wish them both well, but would not endorse signing any kind of contract with them.

I certainly don't have any problems with TxSt scheduling NMSU for any OOC games. Of course, we'll be in the geographic western half of the Sun Belt so it's not that big a deal for us.

Since we (TxSt) only have one announced ooc game in 2013, seems like an easy 2 game pickup. Would complete a "home and home" series with them.

I think a 5 yr agreement with NMST would be good for us. 3 home 2 away. They ate jus he type of team we should be playing. The games would be close and opportunities for wins.

I'm not in favor of a boycott but if my choice is a home/home with a CUSA or MAC or MWC vs. Idaho, in every case I'm taking the choice other than Idaho. With NMSU depends on the potential opponent.

I don't think Texas State is in a position to ask for a 3-2 from anyone, you might get away with it just because of their desperate situation, but I'm not sure strong arming desperate programs is a good policy, especially for FBS newcomers.

I agree. Plus, I think it would be fun to start a rivalry game with New Mexico State.

I feel bad for NMSU. The Sun Belt could have invited them, but chose other teams instead. If the Belt expands into East and West divisions, I hope NMSU gets some consideration in the West.

Idaho is a different story. Those guys have been content to play in the Kibbie Dome. They had to know their days were numbered.

I've always loved my trips to Las Cruces, and, it's a pretty easy trip for football. Fly to El Paso (about two hours from Lafayette) and bus for 45 minutes.

I've also made trips to Moscow. I would rather chew molars than ever do that again.

. . or NMSU could have just stayed in the SBC, but they made a decision to leave the SBC at a time when the SBC needed them badly . . all decisions have consequences. 05-nono

Hey if they want to fly to Troy for a game that's fine by me, but I am not in favor of returning the trip. Let them come to us to put games on their schedule, that is doing them a solid...but we aren't in the business of charity, which is what flying to them would constitute.
