I'd like to buy one of those as well. Would love to know the logic on USC-U over Mercer. Not that opinions matter, but it would seem they just wanted to be different. Mercer handled Upstate last year pretty easily.

UNF handled both FGCU (twice) and Lipscomb (twice), but that didn't seem to matter either. It is just an opinion...everyone's got one.

UNF is a tough out. They have really made some strides while JU has fallen hard.

Yes, UNF did improve their conference wins LY from 6 to 10 over three years from the immediate pre-Driscoll era. They did win half their games LY though. Including the 2011-12 disaster JU is second in the current ASC in conference wins over the last five years.

It will be interesting to see what kind of chemistry UNF has this year. Bad chemistry can kill a team.

I definitely don't expect JU to be down for long, I didn't mean it like that. JU's coach is too good to have them in the bottom half for very long.

JU is another year and another good recruiting class away from getting back in the top half of the ASun. Of course I do not see any schools really trending down with their recruiting/programs. This league is getting very competitive with no easy outs any more.

Chemistry? It is the same team with just more players. The starting line-up is essentially the same. I don't see the chemistry getting any worse and it wasn't bad to begin with in my mind. Then again, I wouldn't know. I was just pointing out that who you beat a year ago doesn't mean much in pre-season polls.

By the way, Lipscomb is picked WAY to high in that poll.

Diaz, Granberry, Smith, Juene, and Wilson are all seniors who have started or have been major contributors since their first year. Driscoll's freshmen class is his best. Will the seniors have more limited roles? Will the freshmen play within their niche and be happy with it? These are a couple of the questions I have about UNF. On paper they have a very talented roster. If all play their roles they are very well capable of propelling UNF to 20+ wins. It will be interesting to me how it unfolds.

As for Lipscomb, I agree.

To be honest, everything I can tell from a distance about Coach Driscoll is he won't allow there to be chemistry issues. I think there are two kinds of coaches in the world today. One, where coaches changed based on the dynamic of their team and the other, where the coach demands his team to fit his philosphy. From what I can tell, Coach Driscoll demands you meet his standards. Plus, those returners are dang good and won't be taking a back seat to any freshmen.

RE: Blue Ribbon Basketball Yearbook
Not sure why they have Lipscomb fourth. Their roster reminds me of Stetson a couple of years ago; loads of freshmen & JC transfers and very little returning. Kentucky was even willing to let us play at Rupp this year -- never a good sign. If it weren't for Kennesaw's struggles, I'd worry about even making the conference tournament this year.

Agreed that UNF is way low. They may not have the horses to make a run a the title, but they're definitely top-tier.

Jacksonville got better as the season went along last year. I look for them to be a much tougher out than most others expect.
