I'm not surprised by the rulling. Broadway was denied after wanting to play closer to home because his grand mother that raised him was diagnosed with Parkinsons and could no longer live on her own. His grand mother is raised him and his sister, they are the ones helping take care of her in her home in Baton Rouge.

I'm not, Dyer was asked to leave Auburn. When you take a transfer in, its part of the process. We went through the same process for Broadway and he was denied.

If I am no mistaken, "officially" Dyer was NOT asked to leave. He "decided to leave" on his own, officially.
From the outstide looking in, I didn't think he shouldve been allowed to play either.

I never knew what the basis of his appeal was so I had no idea what sort of chance he had.
Long as he's working on the scout team this year, I don't really care. I figure if the first team defense can consistently stop him practice they'll be ready to play.

NCAA only gives these kind of rulings to the big schools...

Ryan Mallett didn't get his approved. Brandon Reed didn't get his when his granny got sick and he transfered to Georgia Tech.

South is waiting on a waiver ruling for a kid named Elliot who originally went to Kentucky to play OL.
But he wanted to transfer because his mother is extremely ill.
I guess these waiver decisions are starting to roll in.
We'll see how it goes.
If they won't give waivers to kids who want to go home to take care of sick family, who the heck are these waivers for?

lol on the dose of reality that arkstfan always brings.
here's the deal.....unless you have 2 daddies like some hollywood sitcom then you have a family member that is suffering some malady.
i've yet to meet a woman that wasn't a burgeoning hypochondriac <sp>.
it's got to the point when my wife complains about anything i tell her it's probably cancer.
which pisses her off but gawd almighty if you tell her that aches and pains are a fact of life.
keepin' it real.
and keepin' women pissed off.
dahbeed.

The real question is can this young man keep himself out of trouble for over a year without playing time? I kind of doubt it.

If he plans on playing on Sunday's he better.
Outside of a player trying to have a pound of marijjuana mailed to him last year, we really havent had major legal issues with the football team. I am not counting players like Brandon Joiner who got in trouble pre-ASU.

That was the official release. According to several of our coaches that have friends on the staff, he was asked to leave or encouraged. In any case, he was a problem child for them. Some kids mature later and he may turn out to be a solid student athlete at ASU. Some coaches are good at working with such kids, Malzahn might be one of those coaches.

Well, it could be said that Gus was not "one of those coaches" at Auburn.

Not that I think it really matters, but I think the split was essentially mutual. The relationship had soured on both ends, Chuck Oliver of 680 the fan in Atlanta(granted an Auburn grad) was already saying Dyer would not be back for 2012 before the 2011 season had ended, it was no secret.

Don't know Sott, I can only go on I was told. I'm not an insider at Auburn but these coaches talk to each other all the time. ASU's defensive cordinator Thompson stopped in and visited with Hudspeth while he was in the area recruiting during spring high school football. Many of these coaches have known each other for years.
