So your awesome "all-purpose" guy will now be regulated to RB where all 11 men will be gunning for him cause we know Jakes won't complete more than 50% of his passes.

He will lose a few duties now that he will be in the backfield which means, you will be losing yards from last year in the backfield and the WR corps and the return game.

No matter how you spin it, losing Rainey is going to be a HUGE hit to your offense. Jakes completed less than 60% of his passes last season because the entire defenses focus was on the run game. It won't be this year.

I do believe QB's can get better, where I am sure he will, but to think your offense wont take a SIGNIFICANT hit due to Rainey's absence is just ignorant.

Rianey was a stud and Jakes does blow but I think RB is the easiest position to replace. We lost Dunbar AND Hamilton and I'm not too concerned about it. Losing a good lineman hurts much more.

I deffinately agree with you about the OLine.

Luckily for WKU they are returning most (if I am not mistaken).

we return everyone except wes 'the human illegal motion call' jeffries.

he was all conference but we'll upgrade as willie t has been piling up the big uglies needed to run his west coast offense.

i'd always been a lover of the wide open passing game in foolsball. but after watching the power of the west coast the last two years i really came to appreciate the beauty of an offense that can line up and the other team KNOWS what is coming and just can't stop it.

i know my good buddy mtpikapp thinks it was simply due to rainey but there's a reason he went undrafted. the nfl didn't think as highly of bobby as you guys do. and i love bobby rainey.

i don't know who the answer will be at rb but i also believe o-lines are every bit as important if not more important for the running game than the back.

ya'll keep hatin' and hopin'. we won't know until we have a ballgame and see if we can keep whippin' that ass in time of possession like we did last year.

RE: WKU's #1 Impact Player on Offense
- O-line returns 4 of 5 starters
- Rainey wasn't fast, he was quick, agile, and could find the running lane
- Andrews has those same skills, he may not carry the rock 35 to 40 time a game, 20-30 carries a game probably.
- There is also a tree trunk of a running back named Keshawn Simpson who will get some carries as well, especially in short yardage situations.

The biggest impact on the offense will be Jakes...

Oh I'm sorry, were you looking for positive impact?

Beating our ***?

In 3 starts against us, Jakes is 1-2. He's gone 35-76, 2 TD's, 10 sacks.

The one win came, of course, on the back of Bobby Rainey, in a 2OT game, in which Rainey carried the ball 37 times for 166 yards. Yes Jakes did throw the winning TD in that game, but, just a reminder, that second overtime started with two consecutive incompletions by Jakes. If not for an 11 yard run on 3rd and 10 by Rainey, you would have been depending on a long field goal from Tinius(who was 0-3 on the day) just to send the game to a third OT. Just for further emphasis on Rainey's roll in that game, not only did his 11 yard run on 3rd and 10 extend the game, but the very next snap he rushed for 10 more yards to get the ball inside the 5, which set up the game winning touchdown pass on the next snap and yes, Jakes made the throw, but who did it go to? Rainey, of course.

Look, you guys won the game last year, you have bragging rights, but the only "*** beating" in the series recently was when we beat you guys 62-24 in 2009. You won in 2011 in spite of not because of Kawaun Jakes.

You very well may beat us again in 2012, especially if you guys are right about your running game being "just fine" without Rainey, but I can assure you that if your Toppers do win again in 2012, it again will be in spite of not because of Kawaun Jakes.

Bragging rights are on your side, but facts pertaining to Jakes are not. There's your chair shot.
