Point guards
04 Graber 5-10
05 Graber 5-10
06 Wright 6-2
07 Moore 6-0
08 Moore 6-0
09 Bozeman 6-0
10 Bozeman 6-0
11 Williams 5-10
12 Williams 5-10

I think I got the main point guards right over that period.
If he turns out to be the main point, at 6-1, Hagins would be taller than anyone we have had except Wright. Height means very little at point, but we have not had any in recent years who were over 6-0. For whatever that is worth.

Main attributes a PG must have to be great (in order):

1. Smarts, i.e. decision-making
2. Selflessness
3. Court awareness/vision
4. Passing ability
5. Quickness
6. Ability to hit midrange shots
7. Ability to finish at the basket
8. Ability to hit the 3

My concerns about our freshmen adapting to D1: #5 with Josh; #1 with John. I feel very good about both of them, but the transition to D1, especially when a team absolutely is relying on a freshman PG to step up, is super tough.

After seeing Pappy's post on another strand, I have to amend.

1. Smarts, i.e decision-making
2. Leadership
3. Selflessness
4. Court awareness/vision
5. Passing ability
6. Toughness
7. Quickness
8. Ability to hit midrange shots
9. Ability to finish at the basket
10. Ability to hit the 3

RE: Point guards
In a sense, the point guard is the manager of the team. A manager does not have to do things as much as to make sure that everyone else is doing what he should be doing. (This is an oversimplification, obviously.) The point guard is the guy who makes sure the team is working. I guess Graber embodied that as much as any point we have had.

I like your list. Pretty comprehensive. Those are the qualities of a good point - what it takes to get his management job done.

RE: Point guards
Great list, but I'd put defense in the top 3 or 4

RE: Point guards
If you don't play defense, you don't play for Steve. No doubt Graber was the ultimate true point guard. I see some of his qualities in Hagins, but it will take him a little time to adjust to the speed of the game at the D1 level.

Can't believe I, of all people, left out defense. I guess I just got too focused on what I hope for in the way of offensive skills for our freshman. You are absolutely right. Defense wins championships.
