The Big 12's biggest impact game in 2012

The Big 12's biggest impact game
ESPiN Wrote:]What's the game on the Big 12 schedule that will have the most impact in 2012? Easy.

Get ready for an epic showdown when Oklahoma makes its maiden voyage to Morgantown on November 17.

The Sooners and Mountaineers are the favorites to finish the Big 12 with the best offense, and sure enough, they're the favorites to finish atop the Big 12 standings, too.

That should equal a fun-filled showdown in an amazing atmosphere in mid-November that could decide the entire Big 12.

What will the weather likely be at that time of year? Will it still be mild enough that the elements won't be likely to have a big impact on the game?

It could be nice and sunny, cold and windy, raining, snowing, or whatever. November is a pick'em month, when it comes to weather in West Virginia...

It should be a helluva game. Holgorsen's offense put up 34 on OU in his last season as OC at TT, so he's had some success against Stoops & Co.

There will be a lot of football played before November. Let's not put the cart before the horse. If WVU and OU are both undefeated in Big 12 play when this game happens then I will say you are correct in this assumption. Do I think both of you will be undefeated? 99% chance of a "no" on that one.

WVU currently has a 2 game winning streak against the Sooners, and this will be Oklahoma's first visit to Mountaineer Field...

I wonder if the GameDay crew will show up in Morgantown again. If both teams go into the game unbeaten, I'm pretty sure they will...

TCU @ WVU November 3rd could be interesting, too.

There are a lot of games that should be interesting, Phog...

After all, 6 Big XII teams are coming off 10 win seasons last year. OSU went 12-1 last year, while WVU, TCU, Oklahoma, Kansas State, and Baylor are all coming off 10-3 seasons...

Has any conference anywhere ever been able to say something similar?

I don't know, but it will make for a helluva round-robin schedule. As you mention there are a lot of teams that had a lot of success last year coming together, and that doesn't even include UT. Even last year's patsy KU, while still far from contention, should be considerably improved after last year's debacle, even if our record won't show it.

With nowhere to hide since everyone plays everyone else, there's a good chance that it can be the strongest conference but end up cannibalizing itself so the top doesn't appear as strong as it is likely to be. On the other hand, if anyone can get through that gauntlet unscathed, it will be proof that it's a really good team.
