Some of you may remember that I organized an Alumni vs. Students game that featured former EMU Hoops stars like:
-James Head
-Brian Tolbert
-Carl Thomas
-Carlos Medlock
-Ryan Coleman
-Cassie Shrock

The event will be taking place again this year in the REC/IM on Sept. 7th at 7pm and will be open to the public.

why do you do this? is it a fundraiser? athletics marketing event?

It is a part of the University's LIVE Welcome week.
LIVE is an extension of orientation that is geared toward
1st generation and/or minority college students.

The game attracts the students... Then the goal is to make the connections between alumni and the students and create conversation/networking. Having the alumni at the game (on the court and in the audience) helps show the students that there are support structures in place at the university.

It's a good time.

I think you should try to lock in Tyler Jones to play for this one!

Tyler might play in this one. It all depends on how things get handled for the football game the next day.

The Alumni team will consist of:

There are 4 other alumni who will be playing who didn't play for an EMU team. Most notably is probably Detroit News writer who covers the Pistons, Vinnie Goodwill.

We are also hoping that Brian Tolbert will be joining us again this year.

It was an opportunity to schmooze with players and coaches.

It was a really good atmosphere.

Lot of folks turned out. Cheerleaders and dance were there.

It was funny seeing EMU coaches with whistles in their mouths. Talk about role reversal.

Didn't look bad...

Farrow looked good.
