If Boise plays dumb and goes past the deadline their fee's will be more than they actually get in TV money from the MWC I think. How dumb would that be...And I think they might not make a choice til after the deadline.

Kinda hard to to make that decision right now though. Unless you guys in the very near term can get the Big West to take you there's no current home for the other sports, no clue exactly what the TV deal in either league will be, new playoff payouts, or anything else will be, and still unsure about access issues in the Big East vs the MWC. No easy answers at the moment. I would say best case is you can just finally bribe off the Big West, but if that isn't an option you may not have a choice but to go past the deadline.

Dude. The Big East could easily take you guys and Southern miss (Or even Northern Illinois) and have quality football. Maybe not quite the contract but I am sure ECU and Southern Miss would not hurt the Big East at all. Nothing is stopping them from telling Boise "We are not giving you a full invite. Meatball said something out of text and with our new direction we feel you all need to take that blue turf back to the MWC. And yes, We are well aware the next time the Broncos play a Big East school you are gonna consume the conference's soul.
You can tell the Big East kind of regrets the western thing because BYU is stuck in a bind and Air Force is watching and waiting but has no place for their Olympic sports either. The Big East should stay in the east. Like I said yesterday. The NCAA needs to western conferences that have quality teams and networks need more programming and MWC hoops and late night slots need to be filled. I know some of you home skillets out east will watch some football if it comes on at 10 pm if it is a few good teams. Who doesn't wanna watch more football?

I agree with your second paragraph that I do believe the Big East is not nearly as high on western expansion as they were when they first did it. They now realize there is no AQ status to save. The Big East may not really be offering to help because they don't really care that much if you come or not. Pure speculation on my part, but maybe they now don't view it worth the trouble to start a true western division or pay off the Big West just to get you, or maybe this all gets settled this weekend and you join officially who knows.

This is becoming a popular opinion. Maybe its true---but I dont think so.

I tend to believe the Big East has failed to act to help Boise simply because they are leaderless. Commissioner Bailey is a babysitter and is not allowed to touch the Big East controls.

I think the Big East thought they had everything set when they canned Marinatto. They had the expansion candidates signed, a contract coming, and one more big prospect (BYU) that they hoped to sign once the new TV contract was done this fall. The BSC negotion was far enough along that they could see that they couldnt do much about that (probably part of the reason JM got fired).

The Big East presidents were pissed about the BCS and tired of JM. They were fed up and thought they they were at a place where they could set the conference on auto-pilot until August. I dont think they ever considered that Boise's olympic problem might cause Boise to contemplate a return to the MW. Now the Big East needs to be able to act, but there's no leader to get them organized and point them in one direction. Thus, you get inaction. Because of the situation, if the Big East acts at all, expect it to be slow, plodding, and probably two steps behind a developing situation. Hopefully, enough schools can get behind a plan of acion to provide Boise with a little help (or cash if thats what it takes).

My point is, I dont think the Big East is indiffernt towards Boise. I think they are very much a part of the Big East plan. The Big East just doesnt have the leadership to act promptly or decisively.

Yeah what revenge do we really get if Boise doesn't join? We are getting our revenge that the Big East is getting booted out of the club. Misery loves company and we just got a few more people sitting at the little kids table. Yes, I am getting a lot of satisfaction that a league who has shown nothing but contempt and disrespect for ECU over the years is getting the heave ho. Only the ACC getting shown the door could be more entertaining for me.
