Agreed. If he can really develop a solid 15-17ft jumper. He will be deadly with that speed/athleticism. I could see him drawing the d out on him and as soon as they do dunk, foul, or dish for a layup after a drive. He would cause major issues for defenses having to either double or get picked apart.

Yeah, he's going to have to be a SF in CUSA. I'm sure he can get away with some PF minutes from time to time depending on matchups--if another team goes small or whatnot, but he's listed at 6'7 at ODU's site and he's clearly within an inch of Bazemore. He'll play bigger than that size because of his athleticism, but he's clearly going to have issues if he has to play down there consistently.

Maybe, but remember all schools inflate the size. So our 6-7" Ross is actually closer to 6-5. That means the 6-8 PF at a C-USA school is actually closer to 6-6....not such a big deal. Not sure what the complaint is..... ODU is not the only school with inflated heights.

And as the other poster mentioned.....Ross only played PF this year out of necessity. He is not a PF.

With Painter playing the 4 spot and the other weapons we'll have EK can play the 5 this year. We don't need him to score much, just play defense and rebound. Then with EK at the 5 and Painter at the 4, Ross could be an unfreaking believable athlete at the 3 spot.

I wasn't complaining, just pointing out something I saw Saturday. Ross was labeled as 6'7, Bazemore at 6'5 and they are the same height. Was one inflated and not the other? Was one given 3 inches and the other only 1?

Ross is, in fact, close to two inches taller than Bazemore. If you see them at ground-level, you see the difference. Not sure why this is being argued so aggressively.

Because I was at ground level and they appeared to be the same size.

Maybe they aren't, but they sure looked like it 2 days ago. And I surely would rather Ross was taller and I've always thought he was. When I saw them standing next to each other pretty much the entire game the other day it struck me so I thought I'd mention it.

Ross I NOT a SF at this point, so the height is an issue. When he develops an even average handle and the ability to make a shot that is not a dunk then we can consider him possibly playing the 3, but as of now his skill set is that of a PF, and that is why he has been playing that position.

He showed signs of a developing shot last year. It wasn't as abysmal as I expected it to be. He scored 14 points in a 2-pt OT win at Delaware which included a 3-pointer, as well as 19 points in the victory over Coastal Carolina where he went 8-9 FG's and 2-2 for 3's. I'll bet he's much farther along next year, given his great basketball work ethic. He definitely showed some flashes of what is to come.

Jon Adams wasn't even quite this far along by his Sophomore season shooting the rock. So he could end up being a great SF, JA ended up being a VERY solid heady guy to have on the floor by his senior year, that hit some BIG shots. Ross is bigger, stronger, faster. We'll see where it goes.

Thanks for the JA memories..What a great guy and player for the Monarchs! One of those blue-collar hard workers that we get now and then. Hope he's doing well these days.

Palmore and Bacote played very well. Palmore at times was the best player on the court. One Life was stacked with Batten, Ratliffe, Stefan Welsh, Deshawn Stitt, DJ Covington and Brian Darden. Darden was on fire.

Batten got stronger as the game went on and looks like a grown man compared to Mosley and Bacote. Mosley was gunning it today.

EK was fighting Ratliffe, but could use a year.

Our freshmen jumped out to a big lead, but One Life wore them down. One Life has good chemistry, they have been playing together for a long long time, all peninsula district college players.

Thanks for the update, have been enjoying the games. Went up to Newport RI to beat the heat this weekend. I think Jordan Baker was at the game watching future teammates.

I saw where he said he was heading up, but I never saw him. They could have used a lock down defender for Brian Darden. Darden, Welsh and Batten form a strong backcourt.

Yea, Jordan can't play in the Pro-am, players need to be out of high school. But his defense would be fun to see, if he can slow down the older more experience players. I thought it was cool that he's hanging out with the freshmen. Chemistry is a big part of Blaine's teams and with this group it will be a key component.
