I can't remember another year where we had so many players committed to us that are playing in the state finals in Illinois. If they choose the school down the road they don't want to win right away and still might have to go through a coaching change there too.

All three recruits from Aurora Christian mentioned in this article. With the monster day Fuesell had for Lincoln Way East, the future definitely looks bright for Northern Illinois football. Again can't wait to see their games this weekend.

All of our recruits playing this weekend are worth watching if you have a chance, but I especially suggest watching Fuessel. He's an absolute freak. Even if we decide not to play him at quarterback, he has the athletic ability to play in many other places. And, if he does play quarterback, he has that Jordan Lynch esque running ability if nothing else.

If he had an excellent arm I think he would get bigger schools offering him. But he is really fast. My guess he is tad bit slower than Tommylee.

Yep.

I'm hoping when DD leaves, he goes somewhere further away from our normal recruiting territory. I think the further away there would be less attrition from our recruits.

That's the big thing, I really hope our recruits stay with us. Fuesell probably being the most important. Not sure if Doeren would really poach our recruits as he may go into a situation that there are already a bunch of committs.

All NIU backup qbs should be forced to workout with lynch.....and then eat a bowl of nails. Once Fuessel gets some more muscle on him he should be just fine. Wouldn't be to surprised if they kept him at qb.

I'm worried with have another Osei situation with Fuessel. Just like Lynch, I hope the coaches have promised him he will play QB.

Oh I remember Osei, last game I flipped on he was playing WR for the cellar dweller 2-9 Illness. Might need to mention that to Fuessel. Here is your brain - NIU, here is your brain on drugs - Illness, any questions. We have Lynch so it worked out great for NIU.

Since the Osei "defection", we have Harnish in the NFL and Lynch in the national spotlight.

We have shown we can be QB-U just as easily as RB-U.

Fuessel may decide he wants to be that guy here, instead of going somewhere else where ends up as a 2nd string WR.

Recruits will do what they believe is best for them. Sometimes they get it right and sometimes they don't. Osei may still be happy with his choice as where would he be fitting in right now wearing the "Cardinal & Black"?

Osei situations happen, for every team in college football, its part of the recruiting process.

We keep ripping Osei, but looking at it now, would Osei be on the field anywhere for NIU? Certainly not beating Lynch, and our WR's are pretty darn good too. Maybe he made the right decision for him.

I think the Osei episode worked out for the better for us. If he had ended up here, I don't doubt that HWSNBN would have had him behind Chandler on the depth chart. Lynch would have been 3rd string and maybe never gets time at QB.

This point can't be overstated enough. The success of Harnish and Lynch is a huge positive for NIU when it comes to recruiting. Any athletic kid who wants to play QB they can point to and say come play in our system and look at the results.
