GRIDIRONSTUDS EVALUATION: Quick strong athlete that finds himself around the football. Skilled at using a blocker's leverage against him and shedding him. Has great anticipation and uses his instincts to disrupt the play. His combination of strength and speed makes him a tough match-up for most blockers. Has added 15 lbs since the end of the 2011 season. Is well put together and likes getting it done in the weight room. Has the skill set to play in the secondary and has a frame that can add weight to play the outside linebacker positions. Not afraid to make the big play or step up when the moment calls for it. http://www.gridironstuds.com/detail.php?ret=1&id=2223

6'2" 190 & a 10.85 100 yard dash (just ahead of the 10.90 of Perez Ford) as a high school junior? Between that and his offer list, sounds like a pretty good get on paper.
One thing that seems clear is this staff emphasizes athleticism first in its recruits. I approve.

Also from the article we seem to have another walk on
"Holder will join former Streamwood teammate Alex Morrow at Northern Illinois. Morrow, a standout running back, committed to the Huskies in February after his senior season."
We could have a record number of running backs in camp this fall:
Jamal Womble
Akeem Daniels
Leighton Settle
Giorgio Bowers
Cameron Stingily
James Spencer
Jordan Huxtable
Perez Ford
Keith Harris
Alex Morrow
Kenneth Kidd

We talked about him a bit in Feb. Seemed like a great WO pickup.

That's a lot.
Jaz did good enough but overall I was disappointed in our RB play as a group. I think Doeren also expected more and wanted to bring in as many guys as possible to compete for the top 3 spots in 2013 and 2014.
I guess that list is why it seems we are only recruiting 1 RB for 2013.
Riverview Gardens (St. Louis) did not have a student go Division I in football or basketball in seven years. That changed Sunday night.
Athlete Corey Winfield committed to Northern Illinois this weekend after visiting the school Sunday. Much of this visit was about academics after Winfield visited for a scrimmage previously during the spring.
“I went and took a tour at the school and met the dean of engineering and mechanical engineering,” Winfield said Monday night. “I met the players a while back, went to the meetings and all that. The players are really cool. I look at them as family and my brothers.
“(The dean) was saying most of the things they do is hands on. They build cars. He’s telling me how fun it is, how it’s really like. I talked to one of the players and he’s in the process of finishing up a motorcycle.”
On the field, Winfield will play outside receiver for the Huskies. He said the staff told him it wants to move a few of the Huskies receivers to the slot to make room for the 6-foot-1, 174-pound Winfield. With the Huskies shuffling their roster, there is an opportunity for Winfield to play early.
Glad to get his commitment out of the way, Winfield still doesn’t think he will end the recruiting process. He will likely take official visits during the season.
“I’ll probably take a couple of visits, use my officials to go to the other schools just to make sure I’m on the right path, make the right decision,” Winfield said. “But most likely there’s not going to be any second thoughts.”
Arkansas State, Ball State, Miami (Ohio), Purdue, Western Kentucky and Wyoming also offered Winfield.
If you count Fuessel that is 4 WR's already verballed in this class. Most likely someone will be moving positions, but glad to see we are getting good athletes.
Now it's time to start working on the other positions.
A couple observations:
1. It appears our previous Texas WR pipeline has dried up and we are getting more quality closer to home.
2. The overall quality of players is better as 2 of the WR are rated 3*.
3. Apparently our spring junior day when almost 200 kids showed up was a huge success as a couple of the kids commented they were there and went on tours and such.

Agreed...I wonder if it was the last WR spot for this year.
