WVU hires TCU associate baseball head coach Randy Mazey
It looks like WVU may have found their man... 07-coffee3

I don't know anything about him. Perhaps Frog fans could enlighten me...

Report: TCU's Mazey To Lead WVU Baseball
Quote:If the tweets of Stefan Stevenson, the TCU beat reporter for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, are to be believed, West Virginia has its new baseball coach. Stevenson tweeted Tuesday evening that Horned Frogs associate head coach Randy Mazey is headed to Morgantown.

He was HC at ECU prior to coming to TCU. While in Fort Worth he has worked primarily with pitchers, TCU has put a lot of pitchers into professional baseball including at least three who Mazey worked with who have already made it to the MLB.

I worked a year with TCU baseball when I was in school and Mazey came off to me as a good guy and a hard worker. His family was also very involved with supporting the program.

Well, the proof is in the pudding, as they say. TCU baseball has been wildly sucessfull and Mazey has been a big part of it. His expertise appears to be pitching but as previously stated, he was an extremely sucessfull head coach at ECU before being at TCU. One year while he was at ECU they won something like 50 games. Hard to argue with that although I do believe he was fired there. Not sure of that though. Best of luck to coach Mazey and the WVU baseball program.

Almost forgot. Coach Mazey's wife, Amanda was a television journalist before they married and has been working for the Mtn. TV as a reporter for TCU events. She is a real sweet person and is stunningly beautiful as well. Their son Wammer, has been the TCU bat boy.

His wife could probably get a job working for MSN, WVi, or a local station. If she's a looker and good on camera, somebody will put her in front of a camera in no time flat...

Thanks for the update Lonestar. I think most of us in WV just want the program moving in the right direction. There will be many things that need to be done, stadium, etc., but being competitive should be priority one.

They could extend the PRT to run across the Monongahela canyon to the new baseball stadium site, giving students easy access to the stadium, and allow PRT access for visiting fans, close to I-79. Setup enough overflow parking there, put PRT stops at the Coliseum and Milan Puskar, and you could eliminate a lot of traffic. Plus, it would be far cheaper than building a bridge to carry motorized vehicular traffic across the river from the new exit. Although a bridge for vehicular traffic from that location would be perfect too, if the government would be willing to cough up the money for it...

Good luck with everything baseball in Morgantown. College baseball replaced college football as my favorite game to watch several years ago. I can actually go to a TCU game for $8 with free parking and $1 hotdogs. Great entertainment and the late Winter and early Spring games are usually nice weather around these parts. It seems to be a much more "family friendly" game than football is. Around TCU it is not unusual to run 15,000 fans through the ballpark on a 3 game weekend. The very best thing about college baseball is that no polls or political posturing are needed because there is a true 64 team playoff at the end of the season and the team still standing at the end is the National Champion. Not a question in anyone's mind about which team won. I like that a lot. Of course you do have to get use to fearing the names, Cal Fullerton, Dallas Baptist, Stoney Brook, etc. but youl'l get used to it after a while.

And now Coach Mazzey has hired an assistant, a TCU alum and headcoach in his own right, Steven Trout. Great hire, Coach Mazzey! I think WVU baseball is in very good hands. http://www.wvmetronews.com/wvu.cfm?func=...ryid=53270

Mazey has made a couple of good hires. I just hope they finish playing all the political games surrounding the proposed baseball stadium shortly...
