ODU Basketball in C-USA 2012-13
According to Ed Miller.....

"If the CAA does not rule in ODU's favor, the university could consider joining Conference USA even earlier. C-USA commissioner Britton Banowsky could not be reached for comment Wednesday, a conference spokesperson said. ODU director of athletics Wood Selig did not return a call seeking a comment."

That sounds unrealistic to me, at least from a scheduling standpoint. But if it could be accomplished that would be some impressive "in-your-face" move by Wood Selig.

And since CAA football is a separate entity, this wouldn't be so hard. It depends on the status of our orphaned sports. It would be an excellent call.

I say make the move now since it won't affect football. The CAA is suffering from butt hurt. Or this could be a bluff by ODU.....

I'd much rather play in CUSA this year than in the CAA without VCU, especially with a young team. It would be quite the embarassment if Drexel won the CAA this year with us in it, or worse, if we managed to finish 3rd or 4th.

They only way I see us exiting early is if we're guaranteed that our "orphaned" sports are allowed to stay in CAA.

sounds like speculation to me. I would be all for it, but I'm sure this wouldn't be limited to just basketball but all sports where the schedules are probably close to being set. I guess we'll see...at the very least its been A LOT more interesting off season than we've had in a while.
