Went from #10 to #8/7 team wise. Toledo's recruiting budget is amazing comparatively speaking.

RE: Recruiting Budgets MAC
I had a conversation with Coach Cubit a few years back regarding this subject.

Coach Cubit can run his own budget. He can allocate funds in a variety of ways. As for recruiting, he has some advantages. He and Ryan are the primary recruiters in Florida. He owns a house in FL, and I believe keeps a car there. No motel fees, or rental fees.

Moreland recruited WI. He stayed with his parents there. Chicago, Detroit, and Ohio can be commutes or short overnighters.

Bottom line, not all schools can set up shop in Florida for a month at a time without busting the budget.

Food for thought.

RE: Recruiting Budgets MAC
That 2010 Toledo budget is insane. It's about 80% of what Florida State spent in recruiting in 2010 (and more amazingly, FSU spent 280k in 2009 in Bowden's last year- Jimbo bumped it up about 75% in the last two years)

Half the reason they probably dialed it back is because there's diminishing returns on recruiting money at a certain point in the MAC. 400k is over that line easily.

Interesting stuff. Makes some sense.

Speaking of nice little bumps, look at EMU's 77% increase YOY. Looks like they're committed to continuing the turnaround in Ypsi.

It helps when you get 4 million from OSU for a game in Cleveland.
