Slay elected to Marshall’s Hall of Fame
Quote:By Gary Fauber
Assistant Sports Editor

Tamar Slay has been playing professional basketball in Italy for five years. That doesn’t make him a master of the language.

“I’m getting there,” Slay said. “I can speak a little Italian with a country twang thrown in. They can’t understand it.”

That’s OK. He’s there to play basketball, and does it very well.

He did it well here at home, too, first as a player of the year at Woodrow Wilson and then as one of the top players ever at Marshall University. He was rewarded as such on Monday when he was announced as one of nine members elected to the Marshall Athletics Hall of Fame.
