GRANT TRAYLOR

The Herald-Dispatch
HUNTINGTON -- Marshall University women's basketball head coach Matt Daniel believes in a total team effort.

Daniel, who was hired May 29, gave credit to the team he was surrounded by -- coaches, players and community members -- for helping him turn Central Arkansas from a six-game winner into a Southland Conference champion in four years.

On Monday, he announced one of the people on his team at Central Arkansas is joining him at Marshall.

Caronica Randle, a former Central Arkansas player and part of Daniel's coaching staff for four seasons, was hired as a Thundering Herd assistant.

I really have hope that Danel can really jump start this prgram. Marshall women haven't really been anything to talk about since Judy Southand left in 1988 to become the AD at Texas Woman's University.
