Weekday afternoons with Ted Alexander on 94.1
There you go. I guess Ted is Tony's replacement. I caught the tail-end of Ted talking to Blaine....apparently the first Euro trip practice is August 1st. Hope the practices are open cause I'd like to get a look at the new guys.

I believe they are doing trials for a variety of people.
They had a different guy last week.
Not sure if they are auditioning or temporary until a permanent replacement is found.

He would be a major upgrade over the fat man. But please....NEVER use the word "spheroid" again! LOL

Blaine was on and talked about the move, was positive. I think Ted is here to stay, and with Ted being the voice of the Monarchs we should get plenty of radio time.

Methinks station ownership is hitching their wagon to ODU.

You go from a guy that is, for better or worse, an icon in the area, but is sometimes critical of ODU and fawns over one of their rivals to a guy that does PbP for ODU...

It's not a coincidence.

I would imagine that's a wise move considering the momentum of everything. This area is in for a fun ride.

RE: Weekday afternoons with Ted Alexander on 94.1
Remember the 1st day it was announced that ODU was going to the CUSA and the Blastman was so negative. All day ranting about what a bad move it was. The next day Dick Lamb (who use to own the station) came on and got him recalibration and he wasn't as bad after that. Shortly after he announced his retirement after 27years. Maybe he can get a job with JMU and work with his buddy Stickman. I think that was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Remember Ted works for ODUSports full time, this could get fun during MBB season.

Sounds like a smart move for ESPN, tying themselves to what could become the premier sports team in the region. Plus, I'm sure Ted has developed contacts with the Monarchs over his years as a PbP announcer which could really aid the allure of tuning into his show. It's going to be fun seeing what happens in the future with the afternoon show and the Monarchs! 04-rock

Found out ESPN 94.1FM is receiving applications for the position full time. They have over 200 from across the country. I think Ted is in the mix and is getting a try this week.

Probably in a minority here but TA really bores me. Much to vanilla. I'm sure he's a great guy in person, but he needs to be a little controversial if listeners are going to stay tuned.

I thought that was why we didn't like Fat Tony. Controversy and stupidity do stir the pot.

By the way there was no decision on CAA Tournament participation for this coming season. This per John Broderick on his way back from the CAA meetings.

The replacement is Nick Cattles. He's from the Boston area been doing radio up there a long time. Video recently: http://in.news.yahoo.com/video/bostonwbz...63820.html

SUCH a vast improvement!!! He sound like he gives an opinion but backs it up with facts and is engaging to listen to.

Sounds good.. I was really worried about getting a Boston guy. No offense to anyone... but the accent is like finger nails on a chalk board to me for some reason. It's fun but I have a hard time not thinking its abrasive sounding.

And +1 cool points for having Office Space as his twitter pic. And based on his twitter comments I like his sense of humor/style.

So Ted is not the replacement? I'm just wondering because I can't listen to the station out here.

RE: Weekday afternoons with Ted Alexander on 94.1
I actually think Ted improved dramatically over the years since he first started broadcasting ODU Basketball. He was brutal to start out.

The only thing I would like to see him to is become a little more of a homer. I mean, I can appreciate a great play by the opposing team, but sometimes Ted seems to appreciate it a little too much.

When you are listening on the radio and he sounds like he is having an orgasm and shouts out...
"OH MY GOD... HE HITS ANOTHER FROM DOWNTOWN!!!!... and the monarchs go down by 15." :| It's gets to be a bit much.

Yea. hopefully "I look forward to moving to the beautiful HAMPTON ROADS area, becoming part of the community and making the station the place to go for sports talk. I absolutely can't wait to get started."

Hopefully that means adopting just a bit of homerism. I'm ok with it as long as its not extreme.
