RE: ETSU in the news AGAIN AGAIN!
Well you proved your point. Please stay in Pittsburgh.

The Pirates are the losing-est baseball team in the NL in recent history. History says they'll be sinking soon. If ETSU makes it through the first third of their schedule and they're doing well, yes, I'll crow about it. Why? Because this means the Bucs did well in the non-conference portion of their schedule, which undoubtedly is tougher than their conference (same would be true in the SoCon). If they do well in the first third of the ASun conference, yes, I'll be crowing about it? Why? Because the Bucs are in first and have a hell of a lot better chance to win the league than do the Pirates winning the NL central.

Pittsburgh is the third most polluted city in the country according to the damned idiots from the American Lung Association, but good for Pittsburgh on the job market. So I guess you'll be voting for Obama then? (Couldn't resist)

Johnson City has two high schools recently ranked in the top 15 in the state. I don't live in Nashville, don't live in Memphis, where undoubtedly the crime is higher. I never said Tennessee was perfect, just that I would rather live here in Johnson City than in Pittsburgh, and I have two friends (one originally from Chicago, the other originally from San Diego) who agree... And yep, both have kids, and both have advanced degrees. Enjoy your pollution, and please stay there.

RE: ETSU in the news AGAIN AGAIN!
Crime in Memphis kills the state, GoBucsGo. I'm sure a Memphis fan or two will come back and defend the area, but the numbers don't lie (neither do the overwhelming number of retailers with bars on the windows), not saying that Nashville doesn't have its' issues (Jefferson Street, Rutherford County) but compared to cities like it, it's pretty safe. I would definintely agree with you that living here beats the hell out of living in Pennsylvania. If the job market in Johnson City/Tri Cities were better, that would certainly help. No place is perfect, but I do think we both have it made.
As for me, that depends on how you measure making more money, and the job I left the degree behind for being a full time position that I worked three days a week and had weekly F.O.F. not to mention I met my wife and live fairly comfortable today. Married life, sporting events, concerts, yea, I do just fine junior. I could come out tommorrow and start a blog calling myself a journalist but for what?

Do not speak ill of the street that gave Joe Gilliam his nickname.

RE: ETSU in the news AGAIN AGAIN!
Well maybe to prove that you can do it. All you got is a bunch of big talk and no results.

Me, I got the credentials, the experience, influence, awards, prestigious positions, etc.

You? You got the same experiences I do battling the system in Johnson City, only you never made it as far as I did. And your jealousy shows.

That "I got married" excuse, isn't that straight from Romy and Michelle?

I have sporting events and concerts too- better ones in fact. But it's nice to know we are both in agreement that Johnson City ain't where it's at and one has to move away for legitimate "sporting events and concerts."

Johnson City might have legitimate sporting events and concerts if they ETSU had built an arena before a softball field, but, hey, the team's GPA was good.

At least that's what they told the Press.

You are waaaaay off base, little man. Again, the lung association does their reading by the coke works in Clairton. Trust me, I know.

Gonna put up a representation that's inaccurate. Sorry. You lose.

If they did the reading by the Eastman Plant in Kingsport, you'd be getting a more accurate vibe.

So you want it both ways on how the Pirates and ETSU fans would look at a 1/3rd of the season, you put up bogus stats, heaven forbid you actually travel and see what else is out there in the world, and every late May and August you sneeze uncontrollably due to the air in the Tri-Cities (but it's Pittsburgh that's polluted- okay), and you overuse hyphens.

You are sooooooo Johnson City.

RE: ETSU in the news AGAIN AGAIN!
I am sooooo Johnson City. And proud of it!

YOU KNOW the American Lung Association? Well good for you! You are soooooo well connected. That is sooooo cool. That is soooooo Pittsburgh to say the American Lung Association is sooooooo biased. It's so fun to type sooooooo.

And there are these little medications called 'antihistamines.' Wonderful little buggers. They work really well to help with the pollen. Not sure what they do for pollution, however.

So the two high schools ranking in the top 15 is bogus? Or was it some other stat you were referring too? If so, think again (that means see below). What do you did you call me, little man? Is that a slam? Am I talking to an eighth grader here? Are we going to meet outside at recess?

http://www.usnews.com/education/best-hig...e/rankings
Dobyns-Bennett is #8, University #10, Science Hill #13. Hell you should feel good about that, weren't they nice enough to let you graduate from University?

I-know-I-overuse-hyphens. I-do-it-to-bug-you-which-is-oh-so-easy.

No, you do it because you're an illiterate.

I expect nothing less from the people who think a guy who cannot use even the most basic capitalization skills is an insider.

Top high school in Tennessee? Isn't that a bit like being the best car in the junkyard?

Tri-Cities is called the "Cancer Corridor." I believe that more than a gauge placed in Clairton.

WHICH STILL BEATS THE TRI-CITIES BY A MILE, AND THEY MAKE MOVIES ABOUT GUYS FROM THERE WHO PLAY RUSSIAN ROULETTE FOR THE HELL OF IT!

RE: ETSU in the news AGAIN AGAIN!
Wow - you're a pretty immature little guy with a whole slew of insecurities, aren't you? Poor thing. You're working to protect your little dirty Pittsburgh, I'll give you that.

You are ripping on high schools in Tennessee? Isn't it true you are an alum of a high school in Tennessee? So if you think it sucks, what does that say about your education?

Never heard of the 'cancer corridor' reference but I do know pollution certainly adds to its prevalence. Maybe it starts in Pittsburgh.

You're ripping my capitalization skills on a message board? Now, you're really stretching. I think I really got under your skin.

I have to admit it's been fun tweaking you, but I really have to get some things done. Every one of these threads is turning into a "Pitt vs Go" fight and it's getting pretty boring. Maybe you & Goldfinger can get into a fight if the Easter bunny died or something - two allies going at it - that might be more interesting vs criticizing my capitalization skills or over hyphening.

It's pretty easy to figure out, I liked sitting in the stands drinking liquor and looking at big tits more than I liked sitting in the sausage factory known as the pressbox for chicken **** money and working weekends. Why not make more money, work less and enjoy sports rather than make it your job. You remind me of the douchebags at the Southern Standard in McMinnville. If you're so good Marky, why is it that everyone in a "bad" sports town fired you? Multiple people have terminated your employment and you're not involved in any major or even low-mid major publication anywhere? You've worked at it for how long now and the biggest accolade is a TSWA award for writing for non-daily paper in which you were one of like two entrants?
That's like saying you were home schooled and got all A's. It's probably time you wake up and realize you've FAILED at life as a whole and taking that Greyhound down for foundation meetings that most people don't want you at doesn't show you care, it shows you're a f@!king loser.
Damn dude, keep calling this place your life's work. I hope someone does do a separate site, and it'll have moderate to good success as long as they leave a comments section/messageboard disabled on it. There are people here who could write for it and be very effective, and not make it a crusade for the butthurt that Dave and Mike put on you after YOU screwed up and acted unprofessionally.
The sad thing is you probably could've had a decent career in it, instead you've crapped the bed so bad that nobody can take you seriously enough to give you regular full time employment.

RE: ETSU in the news AGAIN AGAIN!
No posts even remotely relating to the topic in the last 3 pages. Can we please just close this thread already? I'm so sick of any post relating to anything Bucs or ETSU turning into a pi$$ing match between Pitt and other posters about the same topics Pitt always turns every conversation toward.

I won't speak for everyone, though I believe many agree with me. Pitt, I DON'T CARE about the enormous chips on your shoulder and what all wrongs that the "evil-doers" did to you while you were here. I DON'T CARE about how much you hate this place and its residents. I DON'T CARE about your love of the city of Pittsburgh, the Steelers, the Pirates, Joe Gilliam, the smog rate, your delusions of grandeur, or whatever other schizophrenic, tangental rant you find yourself on. I AM SICK of having to read about all of the above while I'm trying to keep up with, and have reasonably intellegent discussions about, my alma mater's sports teams.
