and generally there isn't a lot of distance between the MAC and Sun Belt. The bottom three are basically equal. If the independents didn't have ND, I doubt they would fair nearly as well. Conf USA is generally notably ahead but not by an outrageous amount.

I think the SBC will be better than the MAC this upcoming year... WKU, UL, FIU, stAte, and ULM should all field good teams, and I think the conference has a good chance to get higher up in the "conference rankings".

Also ACC is too darn low...

I still don't get where the Mountain West isn't way ahead of CUSA. With all the move ups, its going to be hard to discern or predict what the effect is going to be other than all three "move up" conferences are going to take a competitive hit. The difference between the bottom three conferences may hinge on which move ups are able to win non- conference games against FBS opponents.

Well the move ups don't get here until 2013, so this is the last year of current C-USA. Current C-USA is probably better than the MWC without TCU. Then after next year the MWC will be without Boise so it will be close as all their power at the top will be gone. Both leagues bottom's are terrible.

The SBC has a good showing this year, breaks the top 25, has 5 bowl eligible teams, there is a good chance that we go into 2013 ahead of MAC, MWC and C-USA. Of course that depends on which teams we get eligible due to a couple teams moving to C-USA.

RE: Phil Steele Ranks the FBS Conferences
That's one reason that it would seem that all conferences would have added a couple of more teams than they had intended so that the upcoming FCS teams would have extra time to get ready for FBS play. Just makes sense given the changing landscape, each conference is probably going to lose at least a couple of teams to moving up.
