I'm sure you've read my comments criticizing the reported decisions not to take out Osama and Mullah Omar in the early days of the Afghanistan war. I am in agreement with the "Don't hang out...," comment. But if that's going to be the rule with drones. it should even more so be the rule of engagement for troops on the ground. Nobody gets killed if you're too cautious about releasing a drone strike. It's another matter when a soldier fails to shoot first and kill someone who is about to kill him.

But this largely having more drones, and being ten years into the process of recreating our HumInt capability, which should never have been scrapped in the first place. I don't think competence in office has a thing to do with it.

On the other hand, when competence determines how much of his socialist agenda Obama is able to implement, he can't be too incompetent to suit me. I don't want Obama to fail, but I do want the US to succeed, and I don't see how one can happen without the other.

Since are unlikely to foil serious efforts at terrorism through routine screening at airports and other locations, we should use drone strikes to cut the head off the hydra.

Enough of these drone stikes, and we can do away with the TSA.

As long as the terrorists are dead - that is what counts. They can be blown apart by a drone strike, riddled with bullets by a Seal, absolutely obliterated by a .50 caliber artillery hit to upper torso, or hunted down like Saddam, yanked out a bolt hole, and hung in your own country. It makes no difference to me.

Damn right, do it ALL over there.

I'm being tongue in cheek Blazer. I have no problem with Muslims. I do have a problem with Al Quadea. They brought this war to us. We are finally executing it the way we should have. I don't see even the Maverick executing the war in Pakistan as Obama has done. it's a sight to behold. We are decimating Al Quadea.

We brought it to them first. Outside of Blaxer, this entire thread just causes me to shake my head.

Yes. Americans have a very short memory. We seem to never learn from our mistakes We also have a history of being very gullible when it comes believing the lies told to us regarding what necessitates going to war. I for one...have finally learned not to trust a GD thing that I hear those in power regurgitate out of their pie holes.

Not a fan of war, but even less of a fan of putting our own troops in harms way. Drone strikes seem to be relatively effective, and while there's clearly been mistakes and innocent people killed, seems to be less intrusive overall.

If you're pro war on terrorism and pro keeping American troops alive, I don't know how you can't support drone strikes over the alternatives.

Quite amusing to hear cries of "war criminal" from the left turn to praise. What, did you guys stumble upon the Cliff notes on Patriotism? A new sensation for you guys. Hows it feel?

We all know these new hawks will go back to being liberals when the occupant of the White House changes again.

There is a fair amount of that, sure, but most everyone I know who railed against Bush did so for Iraq, not Afghanistan. If anything, their criticism was that Iraq was taking our focus away from the war that was actually needed to be fought.

The alternative that I support the most in regard to keeping our troops alive is to bring them home...NOW.

Yes.. that's clearly preferred.

You'll notice that's why I started my statement with "if you're pro war on terrorism." As you aren't pro-war, this statement clearly did not apply to you.

100% correct. Paul just refuses to uncover his eyes and unplug his ears on this matter.

Criticizing the president and holding him to a standard is in no way being unpatriotic...in fact, it's mostly the opposite.

Liberals rejoice in the continuation and expansion of Bush's policies. Obama's only success in 3 1/2 years. Killing anyone he deems a terrorist by remote control. No oversight. If a GOP were doing this there would be rioting on the streets of America.

Liberals are the hypocrite poster child. Case closed.

SOAF, you can shout it all you want, but that won't make it so. You will find few liberals who object to ridding the world of folks like Saddam and any Al Qaeda vermine.

And you need to look no further to the universal support Bush had after 9/11 and up and through Afghanistan.

He's the one who blew that support of the liberals with Iraq.

And then how dare you bring up oversight in the drone program when you sat there and trashed Obama for not immediately sending in ground troops to Libya to hunt down more WMD!

There would be rioting in the streets if this were a republican president? Holy christ man, you might want to up your dosage because whatever your doctor has you on now to try and keep you connected to reality clearly isn't enough.

Yes, clearly.

There were protests daily all over the place, until the occupant of the White House changed, then they all went home and shut up. But NOTHING changed except the occupant. You all can disagree if you like but the next time a Republican moves in and continues these policies, pink t-shirt sales will boom.
