RE: 5 solutions to fix ACC Football
I can't disagree with any of these points.
1. Win more [OOC] games Easier said than done, but this needs to be a group effort - pool resources, adjust schedules as needed to setup ACC teams in the best possible situation to win OOC games. Even bowl selections should be manipulated to get favorable matchups (money is shared, after all).
2. Do what it takes to keep Florida St Even if it means (a) changing divisions, (b) changing future schedules, © changing the way money is distributed (e.g. if you're going to keep equal sharing, at least remove the cap on bowl reimbursements; as it is, bowl teams get less money than non-bowl teams sometimes; why not add a payout to the ACC CG participants, like bowls? - gives FSU something tangible to shoot for, and rewards excellent play)
3. Do what it takes to get Notre Dame They should reconsider the old deal: all sport except football for X years, then full membership. Notre Dame agreed to that once before, but the ACC shot it down - time to rethink that, IMO.
4. Schedule more SEC I go back & forth on this. Some SEC teams are too good to beat right now (see #1 above). If we can get winnable matchups - at least half if not 8 out of 14 - then let's do it.
5. Negotiate better bowls Biggest aspect of the Big12/SEC deal is not the fact that they formed an alliance (over-emphasized, IMO) but rather the fact that they will own the new bowl and keep more money. ACC can do that also - and needs to.
