wow. terrible rule change. unlimited phone calls, text messages, and mailings as well as being able to contact recruits when they are sophomores. I bet some schools are just going to grab students, hand them a phone or some texting device and just hammer out the whole country of players.

Here's a story about Brennan Scott the QB who committed to ODU, this was a very solid get.

It doesn't impact McCarley, one a highly rated/high target QB. The other while a nice QB, is walking on. A team needs 4 QBs at a min, WM went thru 5 two years ago.

If a player is confident in his abilities I would think he would welcome the competition. No one is going to have to worry as long as Heinicke stays heathy the next two years.

Is it normal to carry 5qbs on your roster? We have TH and the kid from houston and the other one from pa will be a walk on. But the other are competing for TH backup? Hmmmm. I'm just thinking more of our rooster could go to defense instead of all the qbs we have. Unless wilder is moving them into other positions and the tripe option and other trick plays.

I don't think it is unusual at all to recruit at least one quarterback every year when you have a hurry-up offense throwing the ball from the spread formation. You let them compete until you find a Heinicke.

ODU adds a 36th recruit for next season -- Tyler Burns, a 6-6, 350-pound offensive lineman from Cerritos Junior College in California.

Interest from Hawaii, New Mexico, Sac State, Texas State and Utah. no offers though

he's big.

Nice to shore up the OL with big bodies. On the main board I saw an ECU fan call our offense "Scary good...think Madden '96, using the Dallas Cowboys." We will need big (and ideally skilled) offensive linemen to protect the conduit of our offensive prowess.

Wide receiver/linebacker Jerome Dews (Oxon Hill, Md./Potomac)

Monarchs247 caught up with the 6-foot-4 athlete to see how his first visit to Old Dominion on 4/13/2013 went.

“I spent about an hour to an hour and a half over at Old Dominion,” Dews said, “It was very good. The coaches, they are very good, of course, and practice was very good. They pass the ball a lot, I love that. After the practice we got to go to the facilities, oh man those are nice. I liked everything about it today; I am definitely interested in ODU.”

Dews explained more about the facilities, which were one of the many highlights of his day.

“I heard they were going to go from seating around 17,000 to around 40,000 so that will be a good look,” Dews said.

Zach went to Wise last year, and I went there last year too before I transferred to Potomac,” Dews said.

Pascal has been staying in Dews' ear about what it is like at Old Dominion, preparing him for the transition from high school to college if Dews decides to attend ODU.

“Zach loves ODU that is all he tells me, he loves ODU. Zach keeps it real with me, he told me that if I put education first, football second and my social life third I will be fine.”

” Dews said. “The locker room is nice, I got to try on the jersey, of course the gray one is the best, the white ones are nice but I like the gray. Coach Z (Michael Zyskowski) told me they were getting a new helmet this year too.”

Temple has offered Dews and he is getting interest from Maryland and others.
