THE BUS

The Magic Bus....was a hit at the swap we used it, especially with the life-size stuffed clown strapped to the back. Was a church bus before the paint job.

Umm... we were doing a charity event called "Bike the Banks" where we rode our bikes from the Wright Brothers Memorial at Kitty Hawk all the way down to Cape Hatteras. Alcohol was involved. We spent the night at a campsite in Buxton, NC. There was a little lake there that was covered in algea (sp?) and I got so hammered through the course of the day, as I was sleeping in the back seat of my friend's car, I got up to pee... I was so drunk that I fell into the lake. My brothers who heard the splash (about 4 AM) got up because I was screaming and thrashing, swallowing tons of water and thinking I was going to drown. They dove in head first into the lake, only to find that I was struggling in about a foot and a half of water. lol... my bad. I spent the rest of the night sleeping in the back of my friend's car, completely naked and covered in algea. He was pissed the next morning. lol

Sigma Phi Epsilon at UTEP. I remember attending FB and BB games were mandatory (unless you had to work) and those tailgates were lots of fun. Good memories after the game parties, going to Juarez (back then it was safe), studying for finals, etc. I would only recommend Greek life if you're between 18-24 years old. I remember we had a few guys in their late 20's and they just didn't fit in, the rest of us were just kids fresh out of high school doing stupid things. I'm 33 years old and there's no way I would even entertain the idea of joining a fraternity if I was still in college. Hell no.

Yeah, me too. My first attempt at college I lived at home and hung out with my high school friends. I moved to Greenville and started at ECU when I was 24, and I didn't want to get hazed by some punk kids 03-lmfao

P.S. Mods/admins: how come Greenville doesn't pass the spellcheck test?

Sigma Alpha Epsilon founding father at ECU. We were installed November 1996 after being a successful SAE colony for two years. I graduated in December 1996.

The night we were installed we celebrated at the Sheraton which has an indoor pool with two stories of rooms surrounding it. One of the brothers staying on the second floor took the mattress out of his bedroom and threw it over the railing to the first floor. He then jumped off the second story onto the mattress (I believe belly flop style). He hit the mattress and if memory serves me well it was a thud and he just layed their planted in the mattress. The funny thing was he was okay. He just layed there and didn't move. He was always known for doing off the wall stuff.

Theta Psi Zeta Chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha at Louisiana Tech. We were the first fraternity at LA Tech beginning as a local fraternity in 1902. Became Theta Kappa Nu when affiliated with a national organization. Then during WWII Theta Kappa Nu and Lambda Chi Alpha merged nationally. We maintained a presence on the LA Tech campus for 97 years, but was shut down in 1999 3 years short of our centennial. Membership the last three years dipped too low to keep the fraternity going and LA Tech was looking for reasons to eliminate many of its fraternities at that time.

UCF Delta Upsilon

Not sure how it is at other universities, but Greeks completely control the night life in the UCF area. Every bartender is a part of Greek life in a heavy bar-oriented party scene.

UCF has gone out of its way to try to neuter the frat scene the last couple of years though.

I need to look up some statute of limitations before I start telling the good stories...althought none of mine involve aquatic athletes, fungi originating in cow poop, or root vegetables.

...oh, and if you Rice folks think your college system is so much different, it's really not. You guys are just as f*****g nuts as the Greeks are...with far fewer rules to constrain your mischief.
