It would be great if they did this. Do the ceremony a few hours before a game next year, have fans line the street, as Coach Novak rides in the back of a convertable, a little parade of sorts.

Of course he will be leading the band which is closely followed by the team toting the MAC and Orange Bowl trophies!!!

Before the Miami game at the MACC, I asked, the fact you're are a Miami guy, does that matter? Answer: No, he and Carol are NIU all the way. And I've known Joe as a friend since 1980.

Give him a Trophy from NIU marked thanks for the 2-10 record. You left and NIU football has never been the same. Thanks for the memories.

Joe Novak is a good coach and a gentleman...I first met him in Rochelle at a hot dog meet the fans event...There he was grilling hot dogs and talking to everybody..

The congrats for turning NIU football around go to both him and Cary Groth who did not panic and stayed the course with Joe.

It is an honor well deserved and a thank you to Miami Ohio for recognizing his contributions...
