USF pitching staff is killing them today. Three hit batters one led o leading run. Now bases loaded without a hit after two outs.

Congrats to St. John's on winning the Big East tournament! Louisville should join them in the NCAAs for two Big East representatives. Future member UCF will also be in the NCAAs, and possibly Memphis, pending the outcome of the CUSA championship game.

Will be interesting to see if USF Coach Lelo Prado keeps his job. My guess is that it is the end of the line for him.

RE: Big East Baseball Championship
First, congrats to St. Johns. You guys were clearly the better team today, and it's a sign of great coaching how well you guys adjusted from the last time you faced Barbosa.

I don't think USF has much of a chance to go to the tourney, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a miracle. It's been a pretty awesome year for USF's Olympic sports. Elite 8 in soccer, two wins in the NCAA men's basketball tournament, WCWS for softball and our first appearance in the Big East championship game. Which brings me to

There is a greater chance of me having a threesome with Scarlett Johannson and Mila Kunis than there is of Lelo getting fired after this year. USF made their first Big East championship game in history after finishing 1 game out of a first place tie for the regular season, despite the fact that most of the players were recruited when we were playing in arguably the worst baseball facilities in the southeastern United States. And we have a pretty long history of giving coaches a LONG time on the hotseat before anything ever happens. Plus, with his extensive ties to the Tampa community, including the Gonzmart family, there's not a snowball's chance in hell that Lelo's seat is even warm.

Congrats to St John's on the tournament title and auto-bid.

Is Prado's job seriously in danger? It wouldn't be a shock to UofL fans but I hadn't heard that. Prado deserves credit for building UofL baseball from next to nothing to a respectable program. He couldn't really get over that next step though. He reminds me of a Tom Penders type from the basketball side.

He left for USF without Jurich trying to convince him to stay and UofL hasn't looked back since. Tomorrow the Cards probably earn their 5th NCAA appearance in 6 seasons under McDonnell, with 2 regional titles and a CWS appearance.

One would expect more from USF baseball with their local talent base, but you never know how anxious some schools are to fire non-revenue coaches who are over .500 generally.

It's a tough call, b/c while we would hope that the program would be more competitive b/c of all great local youth baseball programs that churn out hundreds of college players every....we have to temper those expectations with the reality that Prado had third world country-like facilities for most of his time here in Tampa.

That has all changed now as we can make the argument of having the best or one of the best baseball facilities in the conference. So the pressure will be on to take recruiting to another level and start competing for conference championships on a regular basis.

The Big East is going to become a better baseball conference as the new teams arrive in 2013. UCF and Houston have excellent programs and UL is on the cusp of becoming a perennial contender on the national scene. Hopefully competition is going to breed success else USF is going to have a VERY HARD decision in a couple years. They signed him to a contract extension recently and he is very well respected among local AAU and high school coaches who remember his success in winning the college world series at the University of Tampa.

I will say that he can build off this season, has a nice looking recruiting class coming in....if we don't lose them to the MLB draft and the facilities are creating a nice buzz among Bay area media.

Good question....but it's going to be a couple season before we can answer.
