Nobody hit me up for $49.35. How do you contribute?

RE: ODAF Donations
I’d rather billboard money be spent on the betterment of the athletic department. We have way too many spending needs.
The $49.35 campaign is a much more constructive way to gloat. Maybe provide donors with an ODU Football window sticker with a $49.35 donation amount in it...that would be a subtle way to jab the gobblers.

I take it you won't be buying one?
How about the $49.35? That bush league, too?
LOL
No I won't be buying a t-shirt that flaunts a regular season win no matter how huge it was for the program lol, but the $49.35 is clever because it is an incentive to give back without flaunting, and I plan on donating to that (the perfect amount of pettiness as I stated before). We give JMU crap for still talking about their win over VT years ago and VCU for still talking about their final 4 appearance, I don't want to fall into that category.

We aren't at risk of that at all.
First, it was last week. It's still current.
Secondly, we play them a lot in the future (schedule signed through 2031). You can't brag about a game you won once, if you don't follow it up with other wins.
JMU still brags about that game almost a decade later because they haven't played since. And until they play again, they'll have that trump card over VT. This time next year, we might be bragging about a streak against them or a loss. But we won't be bragging about just this win.

RE: ODAF Donations
The $43.95 was fan/donor generated and is not petty. It's a rallying cry. The billboard would have been questionable in my opinion. I just hope lots of folks thought that $49.35 was paying up for a little extra entertainment last Saturday. Afterall, we did get to watch the fifth quarter celebration and "mosh pit" on the field!

RE: ODAF Donations
I like the idea of donating the winning score. Can we make this a group thing for every win? If we can get back to beating teams by 50 plus points at 1000 donors that's over 50k a week.

RE: ODAF Donations
Fair enough. I just wouldn't wear the shirt myself, I'd rather wear a shirt commemorating a championship win. Hell, I'm a lifelong caps fan and refused to buy a shirt or hat that said anything other than "Stanley Cup Champions", but that's just me. My mistake for calling the $49.35 petty, it was just a response to jumpshooter asking me if that was bush league as well. As I said I'm still donating and think it's a great idea. To each their own I guess. This is still my favorite ODU memory, of all the games I've witnessed in person

Maybe ill advised but I like where your heads at Dr. Chandler. It was a big win and the school should be capitalizing it anyway they can.

RE: ODAF Donations
I feel like MonGNarch on this issue. Don't ever want to seem too overhyped by a regular season win. I hope we can make it an expected thing when they visit the #757. But that's just me.

Overhyped by a regular season win? That win is bigger than any win we will probably have in history. It's bigger than a bowl win. Bigger than a CUSA title. Unless we turn into UCF that is.

I hope thats not the case. Our program is 10 years old and according to some we already have our biggest win ever and have had our best quarterback already. Whats there to look forward to? We play 10 games against VT. I hope we win 1 or 2 more. I hope we make the Access Bowl or whatever it's equivalent is in my lifetime.
I do agree that the VT win is bigger than the Bahama's Bowl, and likely any current CUSA affiliated bowl. I'd sure love to win a CUSA championship though.

Obviously, we all hope thats not the case. How many G5 teams have beaten a top 10-15 in state P5 school? How many have done it multiple times or won games that are considered bigger/more important than that?
What to look forward too? Hopefully good football and plenty of wins....consistent bowl game, hopefully.
I hope we become Boise/what UCF appears to be turning into. But, if we are a consistent winner like WKY that competes well vs. decent P5 schools....thats ok too. But, it doesn't compare to a VT win.

Yea, I want that and I want wins bigger than VT over time. I really hope we are selling a program to recruits that we belong and can beat anybody vs the old CAA's mentality which was steal a miracle win and talk about it for 25-30 years. Our ceiling is really along the lines of many of the AAC's squads if we believe it. And not many of them would be printing t-shirts right now.
But I'm not offended if your vision is different than mine. We are all celebrating so I'm good.

How the team fares the rest of the season will cement in the publics mind if we are nothing more than a one in a million fluke to forget about or if the win heralds the arrival of a team with substance.

Never underestimate the shallowness of the general public.

Is $2MM a week good for a CUSA school?
