cmett, you might wanna let @OldDominionAF know about the idea. That sounds like a good and fun idea.

they know, people are talking about it on the ODAF tweet.

I like that idea. Perhaps we should get that word out and try to get it to spread on Facebook and Twitter. Anyone got a catchy hashtag?

I hope so but I dont think they will. But that is why I like VTs approach. They post it on their football page and get the most eyes on the content. Thats what we need to be doing. If @ODUfootball doesnt retweet it. Then I doubt many students or alumni will see it.

I'm a new poster here, and this is probably not the appropriate thread to post this.

But wouldn't it be awesome if the ODU-Va Tech ticket Billboard on 64 was updated to show the score of the game? It would remind people every day for quite sometime...

They're promoting it on Facebook too. Disappointingly, they aren't mentioning the prize for hitting the goal.

That'd be hilarious. If I were a rich man I'd put one up on I-81 around mile marker 118

I'll probably give, but once again, they don't give an option to give toward the stadium. It's "unrestricted" money or nothing. I'm tempted to hold off until they actually ask us for money to go toward the stadium.

You might have a point but unrestricted gives them the flexibility to redirect and use funds as per the need and i am not sure this money will go towards the stadium or not but WTH i went ahead and made it anyway. Done and Done. This is exciting because some one will get a chance to experience the game from the sideline.

Email or call a rep. I know you can earmark your donation over the phone.

My idea is that your monthly contribution go towards the unrestricted funds which they can do what they want with, but maybe like 5-10 times a year or maybe once a month they could do like a one day Stadium donation day. Or some special project fund. I think that would be cool.

AFAIK these campaigns specifically set to raise the money towards the goal and only general donations that are made through ODAF website or over the phone through a rep can be earmarked as such. I could be wrong though. The Campaign ID at the end of the URL marks what the money was made through. This 4935 campaign has the following url

https://secure.acceptiva.com/?cst=9b3e49

which tells me they track all the donations raised through this "fan from sideline" campaign towards this 9b3e49

but if you go over the ODAF site and try to donate it will take you to

https://secure.acceptiva.com/?cst=1701ca

which is the general fund raiser for ODAF be it unrestricted or towards a very specific goal. I could be wrong though.

Dr Chandler, your clarification would be appreciated.

Thanks

P.S. I wish we accepted paypal as a way to donate for convenience sake and why we don't accept discover while we accept Amex, which has crazy processing fee is beyond me.

Wish granted. Been working on it since Monday. Takes a few days to get the canvas produced and installed, so don't expect it to go up until later next week.
