I have seen UNT and Texas St billboards in Houston. UNT was off 59 near Midtown. Texas St on 45 on the Woodlands.

It's funny. Newsflash, I could've gotten into TSSM. Anyone with a pulse can get into TSSM.

I see it the opposite. UNT fans act like the world is out to get them.

And bringing up getting into either school is a jokein itself. We both know both aren't very hard to get into and that UTSA is the easiest one of all to get in. 97% acceptance rate or something crazy.

I lived in dfw and my parents made me apply to UNT. I visited and didn't care for it. Sent an application and got a response that I was accepted that same week (no lie). Only Netflix is faster at getting back to you. I got into schools like A&M too but it wasn't what I was interested in. I ultimately choose Texas St because I like the campus, hill country, and offered a degree I was looking for.

65.3% acceptance rate at UNT
75.5% acceptance rate at TSSM
68.9% acceptance rate at A&M

So you weren't correct. Just sayin'.

And so? Isn't that a good thing if they're fast getting back to you?

Furthermore, exactly UNT and TSSM both have the same market penetration.

Congrats, you didn't like UNT.

UTA is 70.1%, unless you are talking about UT-Austin.

I like how every schools fans have the argument "Well I go to so and so city and I can see tags from my school in minutes!" Unless there's only 500 people at a school and it's more than 3 hours away your likely to see tags of any school in a big city. There's literally more Troy tags than any other school in Montgomery but does that mean we control that market? No, because even if they are going to our school or your schools unless they are actually on campus they most likely watch schools like Texas and Alabama.

RE: UTA Packing Bags For The Sun Belt
Could it be that you don't notice other Universities alums/fans as much as your own? Not to mention when talking about Houston, TSSM is 100 miles closer than NT. This is a fairly stupid debate, NT has more alums than anyone in the Belt including joining members because it is bigger and older than most; not exactly rocket science. As to which college fans really support their school through attendance, donations or open identification with the school that would be difficult to gauge.

There is no doubt that newbies like TSSM, UTSA, Ga St are going to have an advantage as their fans rally around the move up. The question is how their fan base is going to react to the almost certain beatings that are going to occur as they join the fb division. It is going to take a few years for things to shake out, for these teams.

RE: UTA Packing Bags For The Sun Belt
Congratulations to UTA on joining the Belt. I've heard from alumni who donate to UTA the plan isto build up the basketball program and then consider football. Not trying to do everything at once seems like an excellent strategy. UTA just opened a very nice basketball facility which replaced what everyone including UTA supporters agreed should never have been used for basketball in the first place.

UTA has been to the NCAA tourney more recently than most of the current or incoming schools. They will help the overall RPI because their's is better than the current average or the average of the incoming schools.

As with most schools over 28k enrollment, a large number live off campus. For larger schools, the term commuter school is obsolete. Based on the 1980 standards, UT Austin is a commuter school because of the percentage of students living off campus.

Arguing over which school is "better" is a fools errand as different schools fit the needs of different students at different times. All of the ranking have built in biases. For example, in the USNRW ranking if you have a higher percentage of alumni association members that offsets lower admission standards. One poster just liked the campus at Texas State better. I can't tell you how many people I know end up at a school just because someone they are dating goes there and how often they stay after that relationship ends!

I know a bunch of folks that went to Southwest Texas State at San Marcos. They drive up to Austin from DFW during football season because they all have season tickets for UT.

Not to be technical, but . . . .. . .

You mean: . . .. They drive down to Austin from DFW . . . dontcha?

AND Generally speaking, guys from Texas, drive down to San Marcos (from Austin) because we have the best looking co-eds in the Great State of TEXAS! 04-cheers

It is true swtexas state always had good looking coeds...they were a teachers school for many years and the place all the san antonio parents would allow their daughters to go for an "away" college..only 35 miles..when I went of to college ..swt had 3 or 4 to 1 girls to boys ratio..probably still pretty high.

UTA went from the worst BB arena in the NCAA to one of the best. It was very much like our football stadium situation. I am looking forward to seeing a game there in 2 years against my Mean Green.

Congrats UTA and I still think we should play twice a year in BB.

I notice a lot of schools. Got behind a truck in North Little Rock with a UNT plate, see UNT stuff on I-30 from time-to-time first time I had seen a UNT plate off the interstate. I've seen two vehicles around Little Rock with Denver stuff, one FIU (happen to semi-know the person, wife of former SID there), seen three vehicles with La.Tech on a semi-regular basis one is an old beater car usually parked in front of a downtown bar.
