We are using the same company that K Sate used to build theirs. Pictures should be put up soon. We at UTSA are finally going to make some big progress. Our 50 year amby is next year and it's probably the year we break ground.

Lizard Breath is not blowing smoke. Plans have been coming out about the Downtown campus all month. There is a lot of Government support behind the growth. Today the University President came on the coaches show to announce the IPF. I have not heard a price tag yet. I think we were told it would be 100,000 square feet, so y'all know Lizard Breath has to post 150k.

Awesome. Hopefully a new bball arena is included in that complex.

How do you have 2 “main” campuses?

They are trying to make them equal is a better term. I will always see our suburbs 1604 campus as our "main" campus. The Downtown campus is easier to get UT system and government money to pay for things. It is easier to check off the the right demographic boxes downtown. I support the moves the school is doing on the downtown campus.

Exactly what IR said. I did hear 129 sqft and rounded it to 150. I'm pretty sure that's what I heard. Also, our Cyber Security and Business programs will be down there & classes as well as dorms. Our football stadium is downtown too, so it would be awesome to have 20-25k people going to the expanded DT campus, with new buildings, more people, and just in general getting more of a footprint downtown, the city is also trying to ramp up DT, newer buildings, more hotels & restaurants, etc. All of our tourists are DT and will likely be good for them to at least see UTSA down there. While they continue to expand the original main campus.

Any information about UTSA been made public yet? New arena or on campus stadium in the mix?
North Texas does have really grand visions ahead. Their plan is pretty ambitious. Wren Baker spent time as the associate AD here in Memphis, and he seems to be doing a good job in Denton.

RE: Conference USA Facilities
Yes it's been made public. The prezzy said on local radio it's happening. Have the plans been made public, no. But they have already announced who is building it, the same contractor as Kansas st. The complex is going to be 115k sqft, to include many things on the main campus. Things like training rooms, film rooms, educational rooms, lounges, new state of art weight room, anything that new state of art athletic complexes have. They are starting a huge fund raising campaign. Along with donors which I'd guess with going public on this and probably breaking ground next year they have a lot of money secured from large corps. They are also building major buildings at our downtown campus where the dome is, so the dome is closer to campus since tgey are going to consider the DT campus Main campus 2. With a major cyber security building & our biz college. They are doing a lot of the right things, since they are putting major money into our DT scene, new big buildings, the pearl which is a new riverwalk, you still have river walk, etc. So inna few years UTSA will be very attractive.

The youtube video said 2 new building were going to be built downtown. How many buildings are the downtown campus now? How many students are currently at the downtown campus?

Is your current campus far from downtown? How far is the stadium you play in from downtown?

I've been to San Antonio, but not for anything UTSA related.

We should make a UTSA thread so we don't take over this one.

The 2 campuses are 16 miles from each other.

Downtown campus 1.6 miles from the Alamodome.

I am not sure how many students are downtown. I think i have been told it's around 6k out of the 32k at UTSA. Mostly students taking upper division Public Policy or Architecture classes. It is also home to many of our commuter/non traditional students taking just about any class you want.

More buildings and what I've heard is that there will be a ton of brand new colllege dorms. They expect to have this done in a few years and continuing to build more educational building or more dorms. The downtown site is pretty cool already. I'm sure the buildings that will be coming up will match the new 21 century building loooks that we already have down there.

This athletic complex is going to be huge 110k sqf. & options to expand, what everryone is thinking if this is just used for football basically football has the edge up on every sport.

So the hope is we can have a huge amount of money come in & make the basketball court as well.

For anyone interested in following along in our stadium build this off-season, the site is up. Demo starts tomorrow and should take 3 weeks with cleanup included.

Very professional job by your AD on this one. Hoping we'll see something similar in the not too distant future!

There is a reason an 18 month construction project takes 18 months...good luck with the 9 month time table, probably hyperbole. Ballsy to schedule a home game the first Saturday of the season with such an ambitious project.

There are 2 separate demo companies, one for each side. The same will happen when the construction starts.

There is always a risk of delays, but the project would not have been handled this way if there was not a very strong likelihood of it being done by the first game. There are some serious repercussions if the contractor does not finish the job on time.

They also started before the season ended with getting the infrastructure in place and putting lights up. They started demolishing (2 separate companies) right after the season ended. They are also working 24 hours per day.

By the way, ODU announced two major donations related to this project in recent weeks.

ODU alum Barry Kornblau is giving $3 million;

ODU alum Dennis Elmer is giving $1.5 million and the new club level will be named for his car dealerships;

Construction is working round the clock 24/7 and weather is built into the schedule. They are already a week or 2 ahead of schedule. I think we will be fine
