I remember that game. I was behind the visiting bench but too high and young to get into any trouble.
Pretty crazy... sorta Detroit Piston like.

Great story. What year would that have been?

I don't remember the year......

Another great ODU UAB story was one year in the conference tourney we played UAB in the semis. they were kicking our butts big time, up 19 early in the 2nd half and their players started taunting our players with chants of "NIT....NIT....NIT....". We started a furious comeback and knocked their butts into the NIT. We played and lost to VCU in the finals, but I think we got an at-large that year. 1985 or 1986 I think.

That's correct, we started our come back with under 5 to play. I had family members on Interstate 64 going home early and about wrecked listening to the radio. The large section of UAB fans in the Hampton Coliseum were left dumb founded. They were riding us all game in the student section, and when we made that come back it was so sweet.

RE: Expanding your stadium
Heard a rumor from a good friend about Foreman Expansion. He is upper-management for one of the vendors. Apparently at their planning meeting for the upcoming season they were told that the stadium would be expanded before the 2014 season and it would bring the capacity over 25,000 to meet CUSA standards (which I had not heard of before). Not sure how solid this info is but I thought I'd pass it along.

RE: Expanding your stadium
Dr Selig said at the Coach's Caravan that CUSA does not have a minimum requirement for size of stadiums. It has a formula...don't remember exactly but something like 75-80% of available seats sold. I think sold meaning season tix.

so this would mean we wouldn't do anything expansion wise after this season is over? Thats kind of hard to believe.

It doesdn't necessarily mean that. It's just that if they are brining it in line with some CUSA thing, it would have to be done by 2014. It doesn't mean they won't start after we win the National Championship this year.

RE: Expanding your stadium
I have to imagine that they'll just construct a new endzone seating (maybe a horseshoe or something if they can get it cleared with Norfolk) and that would bring us over 25k. Anything more is just a bonus.

I think it would be a phased expasion. 1st phase - horseshoe the endzone to match phase 2 & 3 sideline renovations/rebuilds. I'm under the impression that the admin wants sideline luxury suites to sell to corporate partners/donors. Thus I believe the shells are coming down eventually.

Thats the way I see it. The shells would have to come down in one of the phases and yes they will add more luxery suites because I believe they have a wait list on those as well.

Probably right. I like the shells b/c of their uniqueness and history, but they just aren't practical for a football stadium that holds the amount of seats we want/need.

one thing I think would be sweet (but not really an option) would be to have the river as a back drop instead of Hampton Blvd. we have the river, just not the land to do it.

With the right quantities of explosives and applied to the right locations we could redirect the river!!!!!

Just like Sen John Kerry and his wife had the state of Idaho redirect a river so their property was waterfront......

We have the land but there is a golf course sitting on the property.
