I think I would explode if OKC took Baze. KD and KB on the same team? Awesomeness.

RE: Baze
I know they suck but if he got signed by the Bobcats, we wouldn't have to drive too far to see him play plus he might be one of the best players on the team lol

RE: Baze
I've always thought he would be a great fit for the Thunder or Spurs. Possibly a replacement for once Harden leaves in free agency to the Lakers. Sefolosha will likely leave once he reaches free agency, Baze has similar abilities. The Spurs are the type of team that would invest a 2nd round pick on him and take the time to develop him.

OKC would def be interesting. he and maynor on the same team (providing Maynor comes back after his injury and stays on the roster).

I think Frank was a better athelete, and he's struggling... I got my fingers crossed for Baze, but not sure it'll work out for him

What have you been smoking cheech?

Bazemore may have been the best "athlete" to ever play at ODU.

Couldn't let that one go.

Someone just moved over from the Zone I see.
I'd think Verlander would have something to say about your false opinion.

False opinion? That's not even possible. That's like having potent potables.

You have to be joking throwing Verlander's name in the same hat athletically as any basketball player, let alone Bazemore.

yeah, I'd have to agree. Baze was one of the best athletes I've seen play basketball at ODU...Verlander is obviously raking in the MLB, but a pitcher isn't going to have the kind of measurables a baksetball player is. maybe a CF or SS...

I actually think Baze has a legit chance to make a roster. maybe even a 2nd round pick. he plays great defense, is a good rebounder (especially for a G) and has tons of athletic ability. he just needs a coach to appreciate what he does well and who also thinks he can coach him up on ball handling and a better jump shot. I'm sure a lot of NBA coaches would be up for the task.

RE: Baze
Different sports mean different talents. If you think it doesn't take incredible talent to do what Verlander does you should just give your diploma back. If it was so easy to throw no-hitters in the majors there would be a lot more of them then there has been. For crying out loud the Mets just had their first one ever in over 50+ years of playing.

And being a great athlete in one sport doesn't mean you'd be good in another even if you'd started with the other in the first place. JV might not be able to jump 30+ inches vertical, but I guarantee you that Baze will never ever be able to throw a 98 to 101 mph fastball for 7+ innings either.

No temper involved from my end, just common sense.

I would like to know how you came up with a conclusion that Frank is a better athlete. Enlighten us.

Wow, what's next?

Do you also think Phil Mickelson is a greater athlete than Usain Bolt? Or maybe Jeff Gordon a greater athlete than Darren McFadden?

RE: Baze
I think Frank could be on an NBA roster with a little more athleticism (and maybe another inch or two) while Baze could make an NBA roster on his athleticism alone.

Comparing him to Verlander though really isn't fair to either. Two completely different skill sets required to succeed as an NBA G/F and an MLB SP.

RE: Baze
Baze is a guy who, with the right development, can end up on an NBA roster in a couple years. He just needs to prove he can hit his 3's and improve his ball control. He also needs to get his swag back. It was gone all last season, and I'm sure it was because of all he had going on outside of basketball.

RE: Baze
It all depends on our definition of "athlete". I generally think of Baze as the most athletic of those that have been mentioned. His ability to jump was unmatched; he was like a spring. His lightning quick defense (hand checks) and ability to change direction quickly set him apart IMO.

I think Gerald Lee was the best "basketball player" out of the bunch. His combination of size, moves, shooting touch, defensive ability made him great on the court. I agree w/ Smudge: not sure how he didn't get a legit shot.

Hassell had a STRONG body and strong moves, especially under the basket. He also worked HARD. I think coaches (Spurs) might have thought about his potential if he was developed, where maybe they think Baze/Lee were about as high as they were going to get.

But I still think Baze was a better athlete..

RE: Baze
So is the real question, which was the better athlete or which is more athletic?

Hard to find a better ODU athlete than JV right now.

If Gerald Lee was more athletic, he might be in the NBA but without more athleticism, he wouldn't likely get a shot off against defenders like Serge Ibaka.

Baze is very athletic. But so was Darrin MacDonald. Probably not quite enough to be ODU's best athlete though. Words are everything which is why online debates never end. Carry on.
