Offense look promising but Defense?
We've got an experienced line (plus transfer), depth at Qb, depth in the backfield, worton Reese and Godfrey at wide out; but a secondary without a leader, a decent d line, and uncertainty at linebacker. How good is our defense this year?

RE: Offense look promising but Defense?
I liked what I saw in jonathan davis last year. He's very vocal, very active, and he's a senior this year to boot, along with kemal ishmael and aj bouye, who are just as good as josh robinson. D line is a question mark, but we returnthe entire line I think and can only get better. Let's not discount the new linebackers coming in though. Imo things to watch for on defense are linebacker and dline. Considering that the majority of cusa have new starting quarterbacks and coaches, it should give us room for error and some confidence to break in the newbies, and maybe even work on depth.

Keep an eye on special teams. After last year I take nothing for granted.

Yeah, I couldn't believe how ineffective our D-line was last year. I'm hoping the guys on the line mesh better this year and we can get some depth in the secondary and LB corp as well. Jonathan Davis is definitely talented, I just hope he isn't like the typical bball transfer that "gets it" halfway through the season.

I'm more worried about the depth in the defense than the talent. A couple injuries in the secondary last year and the whole defense fell apart. I'm afraid that we are looking thin on defense this year as well.

The D in the spring game was better than the O, IMHO. Even the second string D was able to keep up with the 1st string O much of the time, although dropped passes helped quite a bit. The 1st team D-Line got good penetration and kept RoCal cornered and the secondary broke up a bunch of passes. Jonathan Davis looked great and was all over the field making plays. Victor Gray showed he could play all four D-line spots and Cam Henderson looked good at DE. I know we have some weapons on offense, but I think our D will be the most improved unit this season.

Jd is a head hunter which is awesome but he needs support and other lbs that can cover in our pass happy conference. We need the pass rush that's why 2010 was a great season in part. Lets not forget that part of the d lines job is to nullify blocks for linebackers.
