O/T VCU to A-10 immediately (July 1)
For those who don't want to wade through thousands of expansion posts:

CAA is really hurting.

Ga State to SBC because of FB desires.

VCU to A-10 because of their excellent hoops. Good fit.

ODU rumored to C-USA for FB/all sports.

This really puts the folks at JMU and Delaware on the spot to get ahead of the game.

The expansion/realignment train is leaving the station and some of those FCS schools with FBS designs need to realize that if they wait TOO long to see things develop it could be too late to get their #1 conference choice.

PREDICTION:

JMU has to make a decision. They would have liked to move with say ODU but ODU is going one way and that option isn't open to the JMU.

JMU need to make their own decision.

I say MAC #14.

What will Delaware do? Stay FCS and CAA hoops?

IF they want to move up and become MAC #15 who will be #16?

And when do this happen, down the road a couple years????

I hope CAA adds SUNY-Stony Brook, a school much like UBuffalo, but located on Long Island and they build up their FB.

They are limited in their present conference (the one w. Liberty). They were the '11 conference champs, I believe.

Drexel is another good hoops program that may have bigger aspirations in a major market (Philly). They may stick around and dominate what's left of the CAA, but I wouldn't be shocked if they made a move before its too late.

Agree, but Drexel's problem is that they are in Philly and other conferences (e.g., A-10, Big East, etc.) already have teams in Philly.

I'm not sure what conference would be a good fit for them.

The MAAC might move on Drexel, but I don't know if the leftover CAA is better.

JMU would be an OK MAC addition. Big school in a solid football recruiting footprint that's not real far away (but not close either). A bit of a stretch but a lot better than liberty.

Temple screwed up what could have been a 16 team MAC: Temple, UMass, JMU, and Delaware.

A very strong 16 team conf in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions.
