If you believe in civil liberties in any way, even within the pursuit of legitimate law and order, this should give you a very cold shiver. (We'll leave the bit about Citizens United out at the end, though folks are welcome to talk about it.) But that first case - wow!

That is shocking. If the main-stream media weren't in complete thrall of the corporate-government machine, somebody besides us might hear about it and give a damn.

I love the gingrich quote about the "scale of the terrorist threat"... really? You mean that threat that killed exactly 0 people last year?

If I had a school, one of the major lessons you would learn before leaving is "They will always try to scare you with some kind of BS or other... whether it be the jews, the gay menace, communism, mexicans, or terrorism...", (examples ad nauseum)... NEVER give up your rights. Come on, this is in the playbook going all the way back to Themistocles.
